APN/Mobile Data Help

Recommended Posts

Hey Neowin,

I have a HTC 7 Mozart which was locked to Orange but I got it unlocked so I was able to use my O2 pay and so sim card in, the phone calls and text messages all work fine. But I seem to have a problem trying to get the mobile data to work, I've tried using the HTC application in regards of it but when I ever try and go on websites they never do load.

I've even tried adding the APN myself which is:

APN: payandgo.o2.co.uk

Username: payandgo

Password: password

I've also made sure the following are on:

Data Connection: On

3G Connection: On

Has anyone got me any solutions or things I can try out?

The Connection Setup App that HTC pre install should be able to take care of APN settings.

That's what I heard else where as well. I've just reset the phone and used the setup app to give me the settings for O2 pay and go but when I say go to http://bbc.co.uk, the loading bar will start loading then stops above the word "http" and then doesn't load or continue after that.

Maybe I'm just having a bad network coverage day or something? But looking at the signal I should be fine.

How was the device unlocked? Was it done via an official carrier unlock? or by other methods?

Have you tried any other websites?

I would also try entering the www before the bbc.co.uk just to make sure.

unlock-now.com, they seem to be advertised by members on XDA.

I've tried sites such as google, my own website, twitter. I did actually try putting www. infront of the BBC when I was reading this but still didn't load.

Edit: Just to add on, It did actually work like X amount of hours ago.

Have you tried putting an Orange Sim back into it to make sure it definately is unlocked?

The phone doesn't mention about any sim problems like it did when it was locked and it lets me call and send text messages with ease?

Update:

Not quite sure why but it seems to be working! I did have a phone call early this morning and after it I thought I would see if it's going to work and when I did try, I was able to load the web pages without any problems.

That's good to hear, was that with the O2 SIM, it might be worth having a look at http://status.o2.co.uk to see if they were doing maintenance in your area.
