Seems like bolt actions aren't OHK to the body anymore. I like!

They weren't in BC2 either unless the person you're shooting at was closer than 30 feet (m95 was a bit further). If they take that away from bolt action rifles then they might as well not even have them in the game, imo.

Well, I meant exactly that. In the video you can see that as well - few meters away and didn't take out in one hit.

EDIT

Now that I think about it, I'm not sure about this design decision. To be honesty, at first I was like "YAYYY" simply because playing against skilled enough quickscopers in CQC can get VERY frustrating due to their OHK ability. But if they miss, very often it's bye bye for them against a wall of bullets from an LMG or assault rifle... I guess we'll see how this works in the beta.

But I sure as hell hope they increase the amount of points awarded for getting an objective. 200 (a kill is 100 points...) just isn't enough to work as a decent incentive.

DICE haven't yet announced anything about the comm rose. No one knows if it will be like in BF2 or communication will work like in BC2 or a mixture of both. Until there's actual information from DICE not sure if it's worth crying about it (not directed at you, sopharine, it's just that A LOT of people shed tears about stuff nothing is known about yet).

Official MP trailer:

I remember upgrading my RAM and buying a new sound card for BF2. Now, I'm going to have to buy a whole new gaming rig for BF3. And that's not a bad thing. I definitely want to experience BF3 in all its glory.

Anyway, that MP trailer has an awesome team vibe to it. It's what separates Battlefield from other shooters. It's not just a run-and-gun game where you rack up as many kills as possible. It's about completing the objectives (capturing the flag, blowing up something, etc). Damn... I can't wait for this game. :)

The knife killing is awesome!

hopefully they don't **** it up like they did in bc2

I wanted to see some epic footage from the 64 players maps with some aerial action in their first official MP trailer :(

my guess would be the reason they didn't is 1. that's console footage or 2. the game is too buggy at the moment to showcase it properly.

Yeah I totally take back what I said. The knife is just as shoddy as it is in BC2. Check out this BS knife lunge (second knife kill)...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UZ8qDXIQCpY

ha yeah, that was kinda bad. but at least it's actually killing the guy. remember the glitch where if you knifed a guy from behind, even a million times, it would never kill the guy? that was a good time...

To be honest I'll take nonfunctioning knife any day over the STUPID lunge. I jam a ****load of bullets down your throat (half of which don't register, of course) and you kill me because you pressed a single button without aiming or anything? Yeah, **** that.

Regarding 64p jet CQ, I wouldn't be surprised if they held it back partly because the maps and vehicles might not be finalized enough and partly because if you show the best OMGWTFAWESOME footage right now, what will you show in the coming months? They have to reveal the best things when launch is approaching and ads campaign is going full throttle.

@rajputwarrior

What console footage?

EDIT

But I definitely wouldn't mind seeing something other than Operation Metro for the bajillionth time. And hopefully they'll change the HUD. That neon crap looks ugly. At least with that colour scheme.

the multiplayer trailer anaron posted, could be console footage, hence not showing 64 player MP.

It looked pretty detailed to me. I think it's PC footage because it's in their best interest to showcase the best-looking version. Also, all we've seen for MP is Operation Metro. They're probably saving the good stuff for the coming months.

that makes sense.

That's one of my biggest gripes with COD, why does a single knife equate to an instant kill whereas a whole host of bullets from a light machine gun do sweet **** all because he knifed me first?

@Demize99 Dissapointed with the auto aimbot knife, why does it have to lock on and lunge, can't we get something similar to the 2142 knife?

@DavidComerford It only does that for kills from behind. You still have the traditional slash from the front. Not 1 shot though.

Come on, It's still Alpha I am sure they will iron out such issues.

Haha, I remember that. I had to retrain myself not to use the knife, even when it was the obvious thing to do.

I purposefully didn't watch much of the leaked alpha footage. It still looks a little rough around the edges (which is to be expected), so I'll probably just wait until the beta to really dig in. But at the same time, I've already decided that I'm buying this game, so I don't really feel the need to "spoil" myself, so to speak.

    • Microsoft finally admits its default Windows 11 25H2, 24H2 action broke key legacy component by Sayan Sen Microsoft last week released Windows 11 KB5094126 and KB5093998 as the latest Patch Tuesday updates. Following that the company also published the accompanying dynamic updates under KB5094149, KB5095971, and KB5094156. So far the company has acknowledged two known issues that have popped up after the release which include bugged-out Office apps as well as the Recycle Bin; though there could be more at play too. Speaking of bugs and issues, Microsoft seems to have finally acknowledged a problem that probably has been around for close to a year. That's because back in July of 2025 the company made a default change to the latest Windows 11 versions, wherein it switched to JScript9Legacy on Windows 11 24H2 and later releases. Hence following the release of version 25H2 in October 2025, JScript9Legacy also remained default-enabled. As a result there has been a compatibility issue ever since then. For those wondering, by switching to JScript9Legacy Microsoft intended to improve the security of modern Windows PCs by reducing vulnerabilities tied to legacy scripting like cross-site scripting (XSS), among others. XSS exploits can allow cyber-attackers to attach malicious code onto legitimate websites and use them to execute the code when a potential victim loads such a website. Hence the new JScript9Legacy engine enforced stricter execution policies and improved object handling, which should help mitigate such attacks. Microsoft today has published a new support article detailing the problem. Neowin spotted it while browsing. The company says that JScript global definitions and execution context may fail to persist across scripts, potentially breaking older dependent apps and web-based components that relied on this legacy behavior. In the article Microsoft has confirmed that the issue stems from its move away from the older jscript9.dll engine in favor of jscript9legacy.dll. As mentioned above, while the newer engine was designed to address vulnerabilities and strengthen security it also changes how JScript handles execution context. As a result functions and definitions loaded by one script could no longer remain available to subsequent scripts once execution ended. The company notes that some applications worked correctly on earlier Windows versions because the older JScript engine automatically retained global definitions and execution state between scripts. Under the newer model though that behavior is disabled by default causing certain legacy workloads and polyfill-dependent scripts to fail. Microsoft says it addressed the problem via the KB5077241 update though the fix had not been enabled automatically in the following updates. As such admins must explicitly turn on persistent JScript execution context using a Registry setting that the tech giant shared today. The configuration can be applied to individual processes or system-wide through the FEATURE_ENABLE_PERSISTENCE registry key. The steps have been outlined below: Run the following command to create the feature control registry key: reg add "HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_ENABLE_PERSISTENCE" Under this key, create a new DWORD (32-bit) value. Configure the value as follows: To enable persistence for specific processes only: Set the value to 1 for each target process name. To enable persistence for all processes: Add * as the key name and set its value to 1. You can find the official support article here on Microsoft's website.

    • VidCoder 12.20 by Razvan Serea VidCoder is a DVD/Blu-ray ripping and video transcoding application for Windows. It uses HandBrake as its encoding engine. Calling directly into the HandBrake library gives it a more rich UI than the official HandBrake Windows GUI. VidCoder can rip DVDs but does not defeat the CSS encryption found in most commercial DVDs. You’ll need the NET 8 Desktop Runtime. If you don’t have it, VidCoder will prompt you to download and install it. The Portable version is self-contained and does not require any .NET Runtime to be installed. You do not need to install HandBrake for VidCoder to work. Feature list: Multi-threaded MP4, MKV containers Completely integrated encoding pipeline: everything is in one process and no huge intermediate temporary files H.264, H.265, MPEG-4, MPEG-2, VP8, Theora video Hardware-accelerated encoding with AMD VCE, Nvidia NVENC and Intel QuickSync AAC, MP3, Vorbis, AC3, FLAC audio encoding and AAC/AC3/MP3/DTS/DTS-HD passthrough Target bitrate, size or quality for video 2-pass encoding Decomb, detelecine, deinterlace, rotate, reflect, chroma smooth, colorspace filters Powerful batch encoding with simultaneous encodes Customizable Pickers to automatically pick audio and subtitle tracks, destination, titles and more Instant source previews Creates small encoded preview clips Pause, resume encoding VidCoder 12.20 changes: Updated HandBrake core to 1.11.2.
