Me. And with a Q9550, the game is running amazingly smooth (stays above 60FPS in the first park area and above 80FPS in the metro tunnel) on high on 1920x1020.

Great news for me. :D I have a i7 860 with 4gb ram. WOOOT dont have to upgrade until next year now. :D :D If the 5770 can handle diablo 3 I'll be set for years hahahah.

Luckily I am one who hardly uses the optic scopes (obviously sniping not included). Even on my medic class in BFBC2, I actually almost never use them unless it is a very open map. I am just used to using the iron sights and just am pretty good with doing so as well, so that whole aspect does not bother me that much at all. So far I cannot really find a single thing to complain about with the game overall. I really like the progression I see with ranking up actually, reminds me much more of BF2 than anything else. Leveling up does not just fly by, it is something you truly feel like you have earned, and I do like that.

Overall, I am left with an incredibly solid impression of the game itself. I am biased, we are pretty much talking about my favorite MP series for shooters of all time, so even if there are small aspects of it that need some work and tweaking, which sure there are, overall it is still everything I personally love about MP shooters. The line in the sand is also drawn for me, I will not be touching the next COD's MP at all. Literally no need to do so. I will play the SP of COD, no doubt, but as far as MP is concerned, even without playing the alpha I could have told you this was the game I was going to play, now I can undeniably confirm it. And let me just state, in a perfect world I would indeed play both, bu as t I have stated many times now here, that the older one gets, at least in my particular instance, the scarcer and indeed the more rare having free time to play video games becomes. So when I do have that free time, it is even more important these days that I enjoy myself fully. Especially with MP, SP I am a lot more lenient, but with MP, I simply go with what I know I enjoy and what works for me. And Battlefield is, and what always has, worked for me.

October cannot come any sooner.

Same here, it seems like there's more of a kickback when using the optic than compared to iron sights

So our American friends get early access to the beta if they preorder on Origin. Hopefully the same applies to UKers :(

Oh cool, so early access isn't just the moh LE folks? Is there a link to this announcement anywhere?

I preordered it on origin as soon as it was available :)

Good old EA, scam people out of paying for a game just to get BF3 access early, then they go and offer it up for those that buy the game from Origin.

I know, i know, i didnt have to buy MOH but it was the deciding factor in purchasing it for me.

With all the shop specific DLC and now this im pretty dissappointed with DICE. I really want Specact skins i loved them for BC2.

Well tbh early access for people who actually order the game makes a hell of a lot more sense than early access for people who bought a totally different game :p

EA didn't scam anyone. The early-access beta invitation for people that bought the limited edition of Medal of Honor was a bonus. Sure, some people may have bought it just to get early access to the Battlefield 3 beta but that's their choice. Personally, I think it's a bit silly to do that. Offering the same invitation to people that preorder Battlefield 3 from the Origin store makes more sense. Either way, it means more people will get a chance to play it early and hopefully find bugs for DICE.

Great get nothing. Not even early access to any alpha beta (and probably even full game will crash origin on release day which isn't even available yet I might add "TBA") and I've done everything possible to participate yet they see more incentive in geographically restricting things and casting users out no matter what. Was the first and will be last time I ever buy into their public failure and marketing rubbish

So far, they've only revealed the pre-order bonuses for the US and Europe. Who knows, maybe they'll offer something for Oceania (Australia, New Zealand, etc).

lol I already know trust me nobody ever gives anything extra here.

Cancelled my pre-order i will buy this when it goes bargain bin.

People who got into Alpha get 48 hours headstart in beta just like those that spent ?40 on MOH:LE, then theres all this business with retailer specific pre-order incentives, i am a Battlefield completionist ive bought played and finished every version of Battlefield both PC and Console including booster packs and DLC, i even paid ?4 for the Specact skins for BC2.

I pre-ordered the day it was available for pre-order and because i was such a fan of battlefield i didnt wait and now i get screwed because where i pre-ordered it from and paid in full dont give refunds, they give you store credit so i would have to go out and buy the game again just to get the DLC i want. I dont care about the "but they will offer the DLC up for free after x amount of time", they just lost a sale by being greedy.

Why are so worked up about it?

Also, who on Earth pre-orders at a store that makes you pay in full without refunds?

Dude what exactly are you raging about? If you pre-ordered on Origin then you get early beta access (available to everyone) just like the Alpha players and the MoH owners.

It's the people who bought MoH:LE that got shafted seeing as a) early access is 48 hours b) every Alpha player gets "early" access c) everyone who pre-orders on Origin before a certain data gets "early" access too.

are you raging that hard over a freakin 2 DAY early access? That's just ridiculous man.

Pretty kick ass of EA to do this, and smart as well. Gets more interest going in Origin itself, and also gets people used to the idea of using it.

Bolded the important part.

Thanks for being a part of the Alpha Trial for Battlefield 3?. Now that the Alpha Trial has ended, all server access will be turned off until we launch the Beta in September. Your participation and feedback will make Battlefield 3 a better game, and we're truly grateful for your help.

The Alpha Trial has been a resounding success. We were able to perform a number of server-related tests, including load testing our back end. Rest assured that any performance issues you may have seen at this early stage of development will be remedied for the full game launch. If you haven't already, please leave your feedback at Battlelog. Your insights and comments are essential to making the game as polished as possible.

As a special thank you for playing, we're offering Battlefield 3 Alpha Trial players who have already pre-ordered Battlefield 3 at Origin a bonus PC digital download game. Hurry-this offer is only good for the next 3 days. See below for more details.

Thanks again for your contribution. We look forward to seeing you on the battlefield again this fall.

Here is the actual email as a web page.

What is a bit weird is when I redeemed my code, Dead Space 2 was not a choice immediately, but I actually chose Mass Effect 2 anyway.

Why are so worked up about it?

Also, who on Earth pre-orders at a store that makes you pay in full without refunds?

Um me?

I wanted to pay the full amount up front and forget about it, im not made of money and probably wouldnt have had the cash to spare when it finally releases. I didnt know that they only refund in store credit and not actual refund before i bought it.

No im not just raging about early access although i was one of the people who pre-ordered MOH:LE just to get access to BF3 beta, im raging at the fragmented game due to different DLC being available at different retailers. I pre-ordered day one and weeks later EA/DICE started to offer newer and different incentives to all the different shops meaning my fully pre-ordered game gets jack **** and everyone else who waited gets to choose which DLC they want.

I am a battlefield completionist, ive had, played and finished every version of battlefield and because i want all the DLC like specact, physical weapons pack, dogtags, etc.. im raging at EA/DICE because i cant get them all because id have to pre-order it 3/4 times just to get all the DLC its disgusting they treat Battlefield Veterans like that.

Battlefield 3 won't be sold on Steam; EA claims service 'restricts our ability to directly support players'

EA's big holiday release, Battlefield 3, apparently won't be available via Valve's ubiquitous PC game download service, Steam, as previously hinted. Taking to Twitter and its own forums, EA announced as much with some interesting, if not inflammatory, claims. "BF3 will not be available on Steam as the service restricts our ability to directly support players," the Twitter account says.

The forum post goes a bit further in explaining the publisher's position, though it doesn't go so far as to explicitly explain the schism. "Steam has adopted a set of restrictive terms of service which limit how developers interact with customers to deliver patches and other downloadable content," the forum post reads. "No other download service has adopted these practices." As with Dragon Age 2, this is in reference to one specific part of Steam's Terms of Service agreement, which forces games to deliver DLC and patches through Steam rather than through a game-specific client. EA claims this to be restrictive, and thus refuses to sell some titles through the service.

It remains unclear why EA -- who, in the past, has offered a variety of games through Steam, regardless of the Terms of Service -- refuses to offer DLC and patches through Steam suddenly, but it certainly appears to be a stance the company is staying firm on. The forum post also notes EA's inclination towards resolving the issue with Valve, saying, "We hope to work out an agreement where Steam can carry Battlefield 3; meanwhile, gamers can pick from the more than 100 digital retailers."

    • Microsoft finally admits its default Windows 11 25H2, 24H2 action broke key legacy component by Sayan Sen Microsoft last week released Windows 11 KB5094126 and KB5093998 as the latest Patch Tuesday updates. Following that the company also published the accompanying dynamic updates under KB5094149, KB5095971, and KB5094156. So far the company has acknowledged two known issues that have popped up after the release which include bugged-out Office apps as well as the Recycle Bin; though there could be more at play too. Speaking of bugs and issues, Microsoft seems to have finally acknowledged a problem that probably has been around for close to a year. That's because back in July of 2025 the company made a default change to the latest Windows 11 versions, wherein it switched to JScript9Legacy on Windows 11 24H2 and later releases. Hence following the release of version 25H2 in October 2025, JScript9Legacy also remained default-enabled. As a result there has been a compatibility issue ever since then. For those wondering, by switching to JScript9Legacy Microsoft intended to improve the security of modern Windows PCs by reducing vulnerabilities tied to legacy scripting like cross-site scripting (XSS), among others. XSS exploits can allow cyber-attackers to attach malicious code onto legitimate websites and use them to execute the code when a potential victim loads such a website. Hence the new JScript9Legacy engine enforced stricter execution policies and improved object handling, which should help mitigate such attacks. Microsoft today has published a new support article detailing the problem. Neowin spotted it while browsing. The company says that JScript global definitions and execution context may fail to persist across scripts, potentially breaking older dependent apps and web-based components that relied on this legacy behavior. In the article Microsoft has confirmed that the issue stems from its move away from the older jscript9.dll engine in favor of jscript9legacy.dll. As mentioned above, while the newer engine was designed to address vulnerabilities and strengthen security it also changes how JScript handles execution context. As a result functions and definitions loaded by one script could no longer remain available to subsequent scripts once execution ended. The company notes that some applications worked correctly on earlier Windows versions because the older JScript engine automatically retained global definitions and execution state between scripts. Under the newer model though that behavior is disabled by default causing certain legacy workloads and polyfill-dependent scripts to fail. Microsoft says it addressed the problem via the KB5077241 update though the fix had not been enabled automatically in the following updates. As such admins must explicitly turn on persistent JScript execution context using a Registry setting that the tech giant shared today. The configuration can be applied to individual processes or system-wide through the FEATURE_ENABLE_PERSISTENCE registry key. The steps have been outlined below: Run the following command to create the feature control registry key: reg add "HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_ENABLE_PERSISTENCE" Under this key, create a new DWORD (32-bit) value. Configure the value as follows: To enable persistence for specific processes only: Set the value to 1 for each target process name. To enable persistence for all processes: Add * as the key name and set its value to 1. You can find the official support article here on Microsoft's website.

    • VidCoder 12.20 by Razvan Serea VidCoder is a DVD/Blu-ray ripping and video transcoding application for Windows. It uses HandBrake as its encoding engine. Calling directly into the HandBrake library gives it a more rich UI than the official HandBrake Windows GUI. VidCoder can rip DVDs but does not defeat the CSS encryption found in most commercial DVDs. You’ll need the NET 8 Desktop Runtime. If you don’t have it, VidCoder will prompt you to download and install it. The Portable version is self-contained and does not require any .NET Runtime to be installed. You do not need to install HandBrake for VidCoder to work.
