I have a feeling that Battlefield 3 is going to be the ultimate Battlefield game. They're bringing all the key essentials from previous Battlefield games back into 1 game. They're even bringing back the comm-rose from Battlefield 2.

Wow. Just wow. Not much else to say other than I think this convinced me that even if my 2 460's can run it, I may want to upgrade them so it looks like that video.

Time to see what my i5 2500K and 2 560ti's can do then :)

Ditto. I don't know what a 590 is in comparison to SLi'd 460's. I didnt get to play the Alpha of BF3 as I only managed to connect to a game once and then it only lasted a minute or so, major issues with the origin thing, linking to browser, linking to the game. Horrendous way of launching the game :( why they did not do it all in game I don't know :(

590 should handle it beautifully actually. My 460's ran it, pretty decent too, I just want it to look, well, like that video. Should be no problem though with that card.

But yeah, I am also not a fan of how the MP server browser works, but it is what it is, and I am sure I will be able to overlook it.

Yeah I made a joke with two of my friends, but it was not really a joke, I may finally have to take the time to learn how to fly the damn jets.

I could at one point in time fly them around, but that is all I could do, fly them around, I could never maneuver, etc., so it really may be time to learn how to finally do it. It just looks to damn fun.

We need commander and mods badly. I dont care much for commander but many do want it!

I thought having a Commander was awesome. Call in Ammo drops, etc. Just added another layer to an already great game. So I personally would love if they brought it back.

There is no teamwork with the ****in snipers every god damn where

He-eh.. I agree :( and now that we've got prones on BF3, I can imagine things will get worse. There's nothing more frustrating when you have to spawn next to a sniper that sits miles away from the front lines

You can download the 1080p/60fps trailer here: http://www.gamersyde.com/news_battlefield_3_caspian_border_gameplay-11650_en.html

I'm finding it hard to describe how amazing it looks. It's just... amazing.

I just watched the video and have a question that may seem a little naive, but I haven't really been following this game. So just how dynamic are the maps, in particular the environments? In the video a few of the scenes showed a huge forest fire raging in the background. Is this something that happened specifically in this MP match or is it something that happens in the this map in every single match?

Thats the best thing about this game you have scope sway now and sniper scopes reflect light so you can spot them more easily. It takes almost everything that was frustrating about BC2 and kicks it in the face.

Let's just hope that recons actually use the spot button now when they're high in a map and see loads of players.

One of the past few days I was playing BC2 on a server on which they had a recon limit. I often don't like the limits set on the amount on recon though this time I was alright with it. They had set the limit to 1 recon per squad which was pretty great. This way, my team didn't get swiped due to camping recons. As that's what often happens when you play rush in Arica or any map where there are typical camping spots. And this way, each squad could have a recon spotting enemies near MComs and whatnot. Given that the recons actually do their job :p

I think it was just a backdrop.

It may be a back drop, not sure, I am leaning towards yes as it looked a bit out of the boundaries of the map, but one of the huge bullet points for the game is the destructible environments. So the map without a doubt will change, so in theory how the environment will be is something that would vary from match to match. it will also alter gameplay as time goes on. For example If you are using a building to hide in, chances are that building will eventually get taken out if someone on the other team is smart. So it does present unique opportunities and forces you to alter strategies.

And yeah, I had zero issues with snipers in the Alpha. As already pointed out, their scope now makes a reflection, so they are much easier to spot. As also pointed out, if people would overall just choose to spot more using Q, that makes life so much easier for everyone involved.

Cannot wait for this game. Seriously.

Trailer looks absolutely amazing. I was never great at flying the jets in previous Battlefield games (I could keep them in the air just fine, but I couldn't bomb targets accurately), but I'm definitely glad they're back. Brings back warm and fuzzy memories. I think even in this game I'll leave it to the experts, though. I'll stick to the ground battles where there's only a minimal chance of accidentally killing my teammates :p .

Lately I've been thinking about building a new gaming PC, and this trailer has only increased that desire.

EDIT: Just read Mart's and Larry's comments on the previous page regarding snipers in the alpha, and it's encouraging news indeed. While I was never super frustrated with snipers in Bad Company 2, I had a tough time recommending the game to friends that I knew were sensitive towards that kind of stuff. At least DICE has mitigated the issue for a lot of people.

    • In addition to the "sidebar app list" and "Collections" features, Microsoft will also deprecate the "Drop" feature. Before you publish this news and credit another site, here is the original source: https://x.com/i/status/2067838711870439583 .
    • Looks like the 7.1 is fake effects, can it at least do real 5.1? It says 'virtual 7.1' in all descriptions.
    • You can't, if you didn't notice, it doesn't support surround at all, it's right in the spec list.
    • Hi — I’m always interested in soundcards. Like displays, I just want to know I’m getting as much clean “sonic juice” into my brain as possible as the years take their toll. I’m not entirely sure what to take away from this review, though. It doesn’t really tell me whether the AE‑X is a good product or who it’s actually for. Most of what I’m getting is: there’s a driver to install, here’s what it looks like, and here’s what’s in the box. There’s a lot of emphasis on the SPDIF input. When you mention not needing to switch headphones between console and PC — does that mean the PC has to be powered on just to pass audio through? That seems like a fairly big waste of energy. Is this more something a streamer would use alongside a capture card? How are you testing the sound? (Also, you might want to clarify that you’re using the headphones in wired mode when you mention they’re wireless.) You mention the lack of EMI shielding — how much real‑world difference does that make compared with typical motherboard audio? On multi‑channel: what exactly isn’t supported? Does this mean Windows spatial audio (Dolby Atmos for Headphones, DTS Headphone:X, etc.) won’t work, or just that the card itself doesn’t decode surround formats? And are there any true multi‑driver “surround” headphones left that would even use that? You also highlight support for high‑impedance headphones — but what does that translate to in practice? How does it compare to driving the same headphones from a normal device, and does it make any difference for everyday, lower‑impedance models? In short, who is this card actually targeted at?
