How sad, consoles get an in-game server browser but PC doesn't. I am full of rage.

I actually liked the in-browser server browser in alpha. Made switching servers and quitting the game much quicker for me.

I just alt+tabed back to the browser from the game, selected a new server and clicked join. Did pretty much the same when wanted to quit the game instantly: alt+tabed back to the browser, and hit "quit" in the small status "connected to" window.

Prefer it than the hitting escape to get to the in-game's menu, quit the current game to get back to the main menu and from there go to the server browser and wait for the servers to be refreshed again.

^ I'm not a fan of MW3 but those pictures say nothing, they could have been easily taken at different times of day or completely different days.

You're looking at those photos too deeply. You suppose to take a quick look, smirk and keep on with your life.

Oh damn, I must had missed the fact that the Commo Rose was returning (possibly because even though I played BF3 over 150 hours, I never knew that is what it was called LOL). That is great news though! I used the hell out of it in BF2!

What does that really mean though? In BC2 on consoles you could choose the map, game mode, and whether or not it was hardcore...

this mean you now have control over which server you can join along with choosing the map game mode and other options

Thats the best thing about this game you have scope sway now and sniper scopes reflect light so you can spot them more easily. It takes almost everything that was frustrating about BC2 and kicks it in the face.

Thank god. I basically want snipers to be so ineffective that no one will use them....

enemy boat spotted, enemy boat spotted, enemy boat spotted, enemy boat spotted, enemy boat spotted, enemy boat spotted.... on a city map. Spamtastic.

That's because in the middle of strike at karkand while commanders going ENEMY? INFANTRY SPOTTED! ENEMY? INFANTRY SPOTTED! ENEMY? INFANTRY SPOTTED! ENEMY? INFANTRY SPOTTED! he must be informed ENEMY BOAT? SPOTTED ENEMY BOAT? SPOTTED ENEMY BOAT? SPOTTED ENEMY BOAT? SPOTTED ENEMY BOAT? SPOTTED ENEMY BOAT? SPOTTED.... STOP YAKKIN' AND GET? OFF THIS NET!

Quite interesting, but personally I'll wait for a confirmation from actual employees at DICE. IMO the concept of 3D spotting isn't bad, just the execution in BC2 (and I guess in BF3 alpha as well) was way too OP.

EDIT

3D spotting is still there but it has been tweaked - source.

False, 3D spotting is still there. It's been tweaked though - the 3d marker is displayed only if you can actually see the person. So no more sitting in a bush and blindly shooting at the glowing tortilla chips for free kills.

(This only applies to the 3d marker above the player's head, not the blip on your minimap.)

rolleyes.gif i'm gonna preorder the pc version and the xbox version. damn I can wait to fly the jets, but this time on the pc version i'll use a joystick/gamepadwhistle.gif

Yeah what I was thinking I hope they still have joystick flying support at least for jets. I got well annoyed flying with mouse against folk with joystick so will be time to get a joystick for this lol.

Just been reading the GAF.

That little robot is apparently a repair bot and can arm mcom crates, also Spawning in Jets is also apparently confirmed, which is awesome news i used to hate BF2 when people all used to camp around the plane spawn and people jumping the queue. Hopefully there will be some kind of queuing system you can join and you then get a prompt when the jet is ready for you.

So far the information bits:

- Squad Spawn system is not final and might still change according to community feedback and the beta.

- No BF3 on steam confirmed.

- 60 mm mortar as a usable weapon in the game.

- bf2 handling for helicopters

- 3d spotting is being recoded.

- no in-game server browser confirmed

- claymores confirmed

- no auto-stabilization for choppers

- VoIP support for squad communication. They're evaluating implementation of inter-squad communication (talk to other squads).

The only thing that disappoints me, is the "evaluation" of the voip changes. I hate that you can only talk to your squad (that remained still at four, just like in BC2) :(

omg BF2 handling for choppers, im so in.

I think Desert Combat had the best choppers closely followed by BF2 ones. I used to be awesome with BF2 choppers, diving it from the sky skimming the contours of the ground, under bridges, through the hole in kubra dam.

Couldn't have said it better myself. This was the last bit of news that I wanted to hear confirmed. So happy :)

How is it possible to pick servers in game? There must be some kind of server browser.... ala BC2.

    • Waymo recalls self-driving software after cars enter closed freeway work zones by Paul Hill Waymo, the self-driving car maker owned by Alphabet – the parent company of Google –, has recalled some of its fifth-generation Automated Driving Systems (ADS). It did so after some of its cars drove through closed construction zones. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the affected vehicles were capable of driving through a closed freeway construction zone and continuing to drive at speed. The listing on the NHTSA website says that Waymo is currently developing a solution to fix this issue, but in the meantime, freeway driving is being restricted. Waymo will update its ADS software so that vehicles can detect when they can avoid entering construction zones. According to the Safety Recall Report, on April 20, 2026, Waymo’s Field Safety Committee began meetings reviewing an event from April 11, 2026, and five events from April 19, 2026, where Waymo’s autonomous vehicles didn’t recognize and drove past ramp closure signs into the pre-planned freeway construction zones. This took place in Phoenix, Arizona. Separately, on May 18, 2026, seven Waymo vehicles entered freeway lanes with active construction in the San Francisco Bay Area by driving between cones that were placed to show the lane was closed. On the back of both of these events, Waymo restricted freeway driving until it could address the issue. In June, Waymo’s Safety Board reviewed the issue and additional information related to ADS performances around construction zones; then, as a result, it decided to conduct a recall. This development is not good for Waymo as it adds to a growing list of technical hiccups its cars have experienced. Ultimately, it will lead to more scrutiny from lawmakers around the world who will be more cautious about letting autonomous vehicles on their roads without tighter regulation. For readers in areas where Waymo operates, does this news make you more wary about stepping into one of these vehicles?
