video editing question for the pros?

i want to place still picture in a video. how do i go about it? i am making a children puppet show and want pictures to hover at times in the video.

Depends on what software you're using. You can make a still frame from a video or you can just use an image file. So what software?

i don't know what software suggestion ? however i a using windows live and AVS4YOU....

and working with windows 7 - so i am very limited :whistle:

You can use a still picture in Windows Live Movie Maker 2011.

You can even take a snapshot from your video but make sure that the preview monitor is as large as possible because the snapshot will be that size.

Be careful that you handle the images aspect ratio properly. This because images use square pixels while many video formats use rectangular. These settings are usually in the editors image and overlay prefs, and sometimes you may have to zoom the image and accept some of it being clipped to get full screen coverage. The higher end the editing software, the more control you'll have.

Tip: start with an image resolution much higher than the video frame. That'll minimize quality losses.
