browser.newtabpage.enabled just controls whether the thumbnails are displayed or not (same effect as clicking the "Hide Thumbnails" button on the new tab page, it flips the pref as well), to properly disable it you want to change browser.newtab.url to "about:blank"

Not only the curved tabs , but also the settings button is taken blindly from Chrome. I mean the only element after tabs on top which distinguished us from chrome was this Firefox Menu Button which IMO came coz of the Windows7 apps/Office App/Ribbon UI(Major in Win8) look , and now its going away for idk which reason...

I think there is some conspiracy going on in the Mozilla HQ , they are planning to doom Mozilla Firefox if not Earth in 2012.

Chrome has taken lot's of things from Firefox too so I don't see the problem.

The thing is who is doing it better :) Firefox a lot much better

That's fine but they brought this Menu button coz of the ribbon UI of Win7 which is now more profound in win8 , scrapping that idea ain't good :/

That will look like **** in Windows 8. I mean that just simply looks like **** already.

They might make Firefox an oval instead of a square, even less sharp edges that way and less ijuries.

Well if they can stop copying Chrome on stupid things like curved tabs it would be nice (it has been proven many times that it's harder for human brain to differenciate rounded thing than square form).

Not only that but they are also killing menu button , which is another imp feature of Ribbon UI. Clearly Australis is NOT meant for Windows , curves may look good in OSX , but no , not in windows...

i feel like starting a mutiny lawl and to spam all these bug reports (whenever they appear on bugzilla). They have to be reasonable , and hey they can't deny the community , they are open source :/

Yep, happening with the latest nightly for me as well, someone even made a thread about it (https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1058816-oldskool-google-search-displayed-in-nightly/).

Could someone please do me a favour? In firefox or nightly:

1. Go into the options menu

2. Click advanced up the top

3. Click on the network tab

4. Click on settings under connection

5. Which option is the default one?

IncrementalGC has now landed in inbound and now in Mozilla Central!

On this benchmark , various ppl at Mozilazine got different results , showing GREAT improvement :D

Chrome Canary:Score 65

No IGC (Central):Score 54

With IGC (Inbound): Score 405

Before IGC:Score 14

With IGC: Score 56

Chrome Canary: 19.0.1046.0 : Score 1635

Firefox Without IGC: Score 156

With IGC : Score 4018

They should definitely not lose the Firefox button. It will look like a lame bland browser otherwise.

The current firefox menu serves no purpose but to waste pixels at the top of the screen and vanity. I currently have to use an extension to move the menu to the bookmarks toolbar so that it doesn't take up space near the tabs.

People don't need "Firefox" spelled out to remind them what browser they are using. Just cut out the wording and make it a simple Firefox logo icon rather than the gear typically found in IE9 or chrome.

Google is stuffed up because they're using bad browser sniffing code (And the user agent string changed last night)

That change has been reverted though, some people in Mozilla want Google to fix their code before they change the UA, Google won't fix it until Mozilla change their UA. It's like a race condition, but involving real people :laugh:

WebKit implements the flexbox stuff, so it'd be pretty simple to get it to work well in Safari/Chrome (Not sure if they support calc() yet though, Gecko does)

Of course, what's the point? :laugh: this is a Firefox specific mockup, it's not like they're doing it on the front page of their main site.

It's using a bunch of (currently) Firefox-specific CSS styles.

(Didn't realise it was an interactive preview, nice)

kinda figured that but it was funny!!!
