Not only the curved tabs , but also the settings button is taken blindly from Chrome. I mean the only element after tabs on top which distinguished us from chrome was this Firefox Menu Button which IMO came coz of the Windows7 apps/Office App/Ribbon UI(Major in Win8) look , and now its going away for idk which reason...

I think there is some conspiracy going on in the Mozilla HQ , they are planning to doom Mozilla Firefox if not Earth in 2012.

actually it looks WAY better then Chrome

Are they going to do something about the big red "close-button" on tabs? It's ugly as h*ll and looks really out of place.

Big red close button? If you mean, the button that appears when you hover over the 'x',it's supposed to be like that. It's a close action, after all. It can't not be red, and it has to be noticeable.

mockup only , i don't think they plan to change windows caption buttons

Definitely will have to find a userstyle to have that Bookmarks Star changed to a blueish color that matches the other navigation buttons. Don't like that yellow star.

I have to admit Australis userstyle is really growing on me. I didn't like it at first, but now it's really coming around and think it looks great now on the mockups. How well this turns out on the actual browser is a different story though.

The star icon has always been yellow. From stars on the sky to children drawing. Changing the color of a familiar symbol/icon will only confuse people.

While I agree, I just don't like it. I like it to blend in more kinda like how the Bookmark button is now. I'll just change via userstyles.

I'm trying to add a search keyword for YouTube, so I set the keyword to 'y'. Whenever I type 'y *video name*' it searches yahoo instead, even though I never use Yahoo. Does anyone know how to fix it so that y = youtube?

Ctrl+Shift+B > Bookmarks Menu , see if yahoo and youtube have same keyword

Or remove yahoo from your history

It's blue on OS X.

Certainly Mac is out of this world

Definitely don't have any entries in history or bookmarks for Yahoo, I even double-checked.

when u just type y , what does it show in the dropdown list? "Search Youtube" ?

I've renamed it but, yes, it shows 'search YouTube' as the very first entry.

In the search box dropdown list, go to "manage search engines" and then change the keywords set to each of them. If you are like me and don't even use Yahoo, then just select it and click "remove." Should solve the problem.

Also, for this reason, I always use two letter keywords to avoid conflicts. Always felt more natural to type two keys, [space], and then search term as opposed to just one key.

Anyone else having a problem with emails in Gmail? I can't see the text/content in the actual email body.

No issues here on the latest nightly. Try troubleshooting your addons. Chances are one of them might be interfering.

Disabled all my addons

Disabled all my addons, cleared cache/cookies/history and I still have the same problem :/

Works fine in Chrome.

Yahoo and everything else, except Google, was already removed.

Are the animated tabs like moving tabs ever coming back? Feels so outdated having to use the "arrow" move still on Firefox. Haven't seen anything about this in awhile and lost the bug tracker.

Thanks!

It's still being worked on and the bug has had activity somewhat recently. No idea how soon it'll be here, though. Here's the bug if you want to track it.

UX Builds now have the new Download Manager http://ftp.mozilla.o...uilds/ux-win32/ Here is a video preview

Seems like the entries in the list take up too much vertical space based on the video, IMO. I'll have to update my UX installation to give a more informed opinion, though.

Download Statusbar is much better than the new video downloader. You can see all your current DL at a glance and you don't have to click 2 times to open a downloaded file.

WTF are doing the guys at Mozilla? There have really no clue about what they are doing or what?

Sir please, its not the final version , if you have suggestions , post somewhere where you would be heard by "developers" (Bugzilla).

Yeah , i think they will solve it later, themeing can be done later (considering Australis mockups for Download manager "panel" being very different) , right now they want to Implement it first...

That is only your opinion, for me the new download manager is A LOT much better than that horrible add-on. :)

    • Bluesky COO warns social media regulations could destroy competition from small startups by Paul Hill Fears that increasing government control of social media risks regulatory capture by the biggest social media firms were raised again recently. Bluesky’s chief operating officer said in an interview that social media bans for children and tighter regulations for social media firms risk creating a world where there are only a few social media platforms run by companies with the deepest pockets. Regulations on social media firms have been very lax since they appeared for mainstream users in the 2000’s. This gave Meta, Snapchat, and Google time to build up their user bases and get entrenched, with Meta being the most successful. Now that Meta has succeeded, it has been attempting regulatory capture. By pushing for more regulations of social media, Meta hopes to make it more difficult for rivals to challenge it. For its part, it doesn’t need to worry about the cost of regulation because it has a lot of money to spend, whereas startups do not. Speaking to CNBC, Rose Wang, Bluesky’s chief operating officer, said: “I support the protection and the safety of youth, the question that we have then is at what cost, because essentially what I’m scared of is in the long term, we’re headed to a world where there’s about three to five platforms, and extreme heavy regulation of those platforms, and basically the whole compliance teams of these platforms are 10 times the size of our entire team. So, basically, we’re living in a world where it’s almost impossible for smaller entrants to come in and build healthier spaces. These platforms have led to a place where the bottom line is the thing that drives what they do... so I understand why governments have to step in and regulate, because the platforms have done nothing right.” She said that while she is not against regulation, there needs to be more channels between the small to mid-sized players and regulators to help protect them. She says that big tech players, on the other hand, “who we know are circumventing regulation,” need to be regulated. Essentially, the Bluesky position is one of nuance, rather than absolutes. While Bluesky’s proposal may preserve competition in the social media space, it still doesn’t address the massive privacy implications these age verification measures introduce, such as handing over sensitive identity documents to access age-gated content.
