Are the animated tabs like moving tabs ever coming back? Feels so outdated having to use the "arrow" move still on Firefox. Haven't seen anything about this in awhile and lost the bug tracker.

I've been wondering about that, too. I wish they would hurry up and fix it and release it in Firefox 12/13! In the meantime, you can use this extension. Only problem is, it doesn't work with TabGroups Manager, which makes it a dealbreaker for me. It's hard to stop using that great extension. You can use TabGroups Menu or TabGroup Switcher for a somewhat similar effect, though.

Download Statusbar is much better than the new video downloader. You can see all your current DL at a glance and you don't have to click 2 times to open a downloaded file.

Remember that the devs are not designing for you, they are designing for everyone. Download Statusbar is way too complex and jarring for most people (note: I use that addon, though in a mode that makes it more like the new UI). Most people don't download a lot at once, for example.

It can go both ways. The Chrome bar takes up a bit of space on smaller screens, so why not just make it button on the top right, where someone that wants to know about their download they can find out by clicking on it. Then click anywhere on screen to close it.

Is anyone else bothered by the way the Back Button looks when there is no site to go back to? Looks odd with the entire button faded out the way it is. Think it's the border and the way it blends.

Smooth Scrolling on Nightly etc. seems to annoy me greatly. Not sure if everyone else prefers smooth scrolling or not. To me it just gives me headaches. I know it can be turned off, but seems odd to have it on by default.

How do we get ours to look like that? If a theme isn't available, how do I at least get the yellow bookmarks star? Assuming it opens a dropdown menu with my bookmarks. That's what I want, or is that just the bookmark this page icon that's normally in the url bar? I want something like this extension, but that is compatible with the Add Bookmark Here extension. Maybe not fully compatible, but it worked last time I tried it when I disabled TabGroups Manager. It wasn't perfect, but it sort of worked. I'll be happy when they finally add it back to Firefox and it works with TabGroups Manager. Hopefully in Firefox 13 or soon after.

That's not bad, but I'd like an option right on the Download Manager. Left clicking is easier, but it's not a big deal. The Download Manager looks promising to me. This new UX build with the Download Manager doesn't conflict with Status-4-Evar, Download Statusbar, or Download Manager Tweak? That's good if it doesn't.

People who want to know about their DL have the nice coloured effect on the taskbar on Windows 7. Also, download statusbar shows the progress per download instead of on global time for all DL (which is confusing).

Finally, as said before, it reduces the number of click to open a complete DL.

"Download manager tweak" allows you to have DL in tab.

In any case, I believe my point stands: bugzilla is not a general discussion platform - it's a tracker. Report bugs, give direct, specific feedback - but don't fill it with opinions.

I wouldn't class this as 'fighting'? It's a completely valid discussion about a major new feature - the upcoming built-in download manager. I wouldn't class it as just down to personal opinion, either - UX choices have more to them than just subjective opinions. (And I think AnthonyD has some interesting points, even if I don't ultimately agree with them)

Be kind to notice that we are not talking necessarily about addons, rather the implementation of the new download manager versus having a download bar similar to the download statusbar addon, which is entirely a relevant argument.

I'm not saying people don't sometimes download more than one file, I just think it's likely that most people aren't downloading multiple files at once most of the time - which makes it the better case to primarily design for. It should obviously still be able to cope with multiple at once.

The new UI has the download time on it. The speed in kb/s is something only advanced users care about - everyone else just wants to know when it's done. (I do personally care a bit about that info, but that's cause I'm a techie)

Note, it's not finished yet, and won't be until it's actually live in people's hands. It will have an on/off switch, in that it can still be replaced by an addon. Otherwise, what would the on/off switch be? If it means keeping the current UI - that's not what you (or I) want either.

(Btw, just want to note, I am not implying the current version is perfect.)
