Eldar: Microsoft in talks to buy Nokia

Recommended Posts

Our favourite Russian blogger is at it again, spilling more of Nokia?s secrets.

He claims that Microsoft and Nokia will soon commence talks on the sale of the mobile division of the company to Microsoft.

The company, which is valued to $30 billion, would be a massive pill even for Microsoft to swallow, but would still be less than the Yahoo merger which Microsoft narrowly averted and which was set to cost $40 billion in 2008.

People live in the old and do not understand how the information that such media. And lose again and again. But my problem is just doing their job. Given the degree of insanity in the Nokia, it becomes easy to do. And there you have another piece of information ? the following week Nokia begins talks on selling the phone division at Microsoft. While the results of these negotiations will not be public, but the deal could be closed before the end of 2011, both companies are very much in a hurry. After all, today the problem for the current management of Nokia does not produce good products, but as soon as possible to destroy the company, and interesting assets transferred to the MS. Everything is transparent and takes place in public.

Eldar has a pretty good track record, but Microsoft has in the past vociferously denied any intent to buy Nokia, saying the two companies were not a good fit, with Microsoft being a software company and Nokia of course being both hardware and massive logistics.

Well, good to know that partnership deal was worthwhile. Guess they'd be better off consuming Nokia than trusting them to sell their WP7

hardware. That's always been something I hated about big companies: If you can't work together, the bigger one always consumes the little

guy. Microsoft better watch what they're doing since they just got out of their antitrust lock. Google is another monopoly on the horizon, but

I'm sure MS is still in the crosshairs... for now.

doubt it.

cuase it would't result in another monopoly or something

Nokia doesn't rule the whole market or something

If they were to buy the mobile division alone and not the whole company, would that mean that they would have to sell Microsoft phones without the Nokia brand? They would be losing a valuable asset there.

microsoft don't have the money to buy nokia and skype... if they do it while borrowing money they'll be on a sinking ship more then AMD was when it took ATi onboard, we just need to see how much they had to shave off their size just to make that work why it would be an extremely terrible idea.

I should insert to back up my point with nokia being worth around 50 billion or more including assets at current. to add to this... buying companies of equal size or bigger has rarely ever worked.

i hope they don't pay a lot of premium for this...better to buy 51% stake or something so they can cast significant influence without depleting their cash/stock pile. nokia *has* been on the losing side so it's going to weigh down microsoft until they have a successful turnaround.

    • No Steam release. It's gonna fail on PC. Even an Epic Online engineer said that people go there for the free stuff and then immediately go back to Steam.
    • Nice. Admittedly, his other games never interested me, but this seems pretty cool.
    • It's time to say goodbye to Edge and switch back to Firefox. There's no way to disable the ugly rounded corners that appear everywhere. Not even on the page frame. No one uses screens with rounded corners, you idiots.
    • Being on Github makes it more trustable since I can see the code at any point.
    • Gen Atlas is the next game from Shadow of the Colossus creator, this time with giant robots by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe The mind behind widely well-received games like Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, and The Last Guardian, Fumito Ueda, showed up at Summer Game Fest today, and that was to reveal his latest project. Being developed by genDESIGN, Gen Atlas is incoming with what looks to be plenty of mech and robot action. Watch the reveal trailer, which makes not much sense, above. The game will have players waking up on an abandoned planet where deserted facilities and grand designs from the original creators remain. Soon, they will stumble upon a colossal robot, from which players gain access to the power to change the world. "Across an endless expanse of time, the remnants of those forgotten constructs begin to move once more," adds the studio. The gameplay snippets seen in the trailer show the player character climbing giant robots (as expected from the creator), while also controlling these titans somehow as well. This is a fully single-player open-world adventure. “The team and I are grateful to all the fans who’ve been eager to learn more about our game,” says Fumito Ueda, CEO and creative director of genDESIGN. “Their passion and enthusiasm has always motivated and inspired us. We hope to share an experience that inspires moments of quiet wonder and discovery.” Before gaining the name Gen Atlas, Ueda first announced this project back in 2024 with the codename Project Robot. Interestingly, this will be a project being funded and published by Epic Games, which should mean that a Steam release is out of the question. Gen Atlas will be releasing on Epic Games Store, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. A release date has not been announced just yet.
