Heh, if you really want to spend your student loan on a Mac, I'd wait until after MacWorld Tokyo in 2 months time when they introduce speed bumped towers with either G4's at 1GHz + or G5's. And the nVidia GF4 is due about the same time :D

student , I have like ?1500 max. And I'm looking to get a Mac. I dont want a portable cause I have a VAIO at the moment, so I'm looking for a good Mac desktop for under ?1500...

one thing I am worried about though is apps. Is Virtual PC any good, cause there are some PC apps I cant live without...

btw, keep posting your Mac desktops. They look sooooooo good.

If there's apps you can't live without the build a PC. Virtual PC5 has had it's plaudits since release and is OSx ready but still, it's emulation. OSx is really the crux for Apple now, what apps come out for it over the next 6-12 months, and how well it gets absorbed into design house, especially those specializing in design forprint. A pretty Unix OS it may be, and its damn powerful (especially the networking side), but I still have to do all my work in bare bones OS9 (not classic). So in many respects its still a *novelty* OS, at least for me and not tried and tested in a work environment. If I was just doing web stuff then I'd only use a PC.

And if you build a kick ass PC you still have ?500 worth of beer tokens in the bank:)) A new tower mac won't leave much change out of ?1500...

scoob, it is my classic theme that I made. It does not use the new XP skinning engine, its like win2k style. And for anyone saying I made it in the display properties, no I didnt, it was made by hand, you cant make it look like that in the display properties.

I make those too... a white one here:

    • It's expensive, but I bet it will still sell out just like the Steam Deck and the Steam Controller
    • This is listed as a preview in WU for me. I usually don't grab them as previews; what's your opinion on it so far?
