Here's how you can enable dark mode on WhatsApp for web

Recently, WhatsApp announced the dark mode support for its web app. The company has now started rolling it out to the users. You can follow this guide to enable dark mode on WhatsApp for web.

Earlier this month, WhatsApp announced the availability of dark mode on WhatsApp for web app along with new features for the service.

Just a week after the initial announcement, WhatsApp has started rolling out dark mode support for web users, meaning users no longer have to jump through hoops to enable it on the web. If you were waiting for dark mode on WhatsApp for web then you can follow the steps below to enable it on your device:

  • Go to web.whatsapp.com and log in using your phone if you are opening WhatsApp Web for the first time.
  • Once you have logged in, click on the three dots on the top and navigate to Settings
  • Click on 'Theme' and select 'Dark'
  • Click 'Ok'

This should save your preference and you will now see the dark theme on WhatsApp Web. Do note that WhatsApp uses a navy blue colour so it is not completely black but should still be better than the light theme. Furthermore, the web version does remember your preferences so refreshing or closing the browser window will not revert it back to the light theme.

With the new update, WhatsApp supports dark mode on all the platforms. The company rolled out dark mode for the Android and iOS apps earlier this year.
