EA Play isn't coming to Xbox Game Pass for PC today after all

Microsoft announced in September that its already large collection of games on Xbox Game Pass was expanding with the addition of EA Play, a similar subscription service by Electronic Arts, which would be included in Game Pass Ultimate at no extra cost. Xbox console players didn't have to wait too long, as the service launched on November 10 for them, but those on PC were patiently waiting for today to get their hands on EA Play titles.

As it turns out, they will have to wait a while longer, as Microsoft's blog post today doesn't bring the good news many were expecting. The company is delaying the EA Play integration with Xbox Game Pass for PC until 2021, without a clear date in sight.

The blog post doesn't dive deep into the reason for the delay, with Microsoft saying:

We established this partnership with Electronic Arts because they are as passionate as we are about helping people and communities discover great games, and we knew we could provide a great experience for members by working together. In order to deliver on that, we need more time to provide the Xbox Game Pass experience.

The post doesn't mention any technical difficulties with making the integration happen, so it's more likely there's some sort of licensing issues to be ironed out. While we don't know exactly when to expect more information regarding the link between EA Play and Xbox Game Pass for PC, Microsoft says it will share more information early next year.
