Facebook has announced a new experience for certain college students in the United States, called Facebook Campus. Campus is its own section inside the Facebook app (it's seemingly not available on the web), where users can meet and interact with other members of their college community.
To use Facebook Campus, users just need to have their college email address and indicate their graduation year. Campus uses a separate profile from the main Facebook page, so you can hide or change information such as where you live or your profile picture. Once using the feature, students can more easily connect with other students from the same college, with access to things like events and groups specific to that community. These events and groups aren't visible outside of Campus, so students don't have to worry as much about outsiders snooping.
Campus has its own separate News Feed so you can stay on top of what's happening in your community, a user directory that lets you find users by graduation year or class, for example, and chat rooms for communities to gather around in. Facebook pages that represent colleges can also join Facebook Campus, and they can participate in groups and events for that college, but they can't see the student directory or find specific chats. The feature is only available in a few colleges throughout the United States, so not everyone will get the chance to try it for now. It's possible that it will expand later on, though.
