Google has pulled the plugs from its Google Podcasts app in the US, making YouTube Music Google's main podcasting app. A prompt appears in the app notifying the users about the shutdown. 

Google says it will offer podcasts for free in the YouTube Music app around the world before the end of the year but will shut down the dedicated Google Podcasts app sometime in 2024.

Google has rolled out an option to change the default podcast service in Assistant across Chromebooks, Smart displays, TVs, Home, and more. However, the option only supports Google Podcasts for now.

Google has unveiled new features meant to make it easier to explore local news through Assistant and listen to a mix of personalized news articles based on the users' interests via a Nest speaker.

Google has announced that it's updating the design of its Podcasts app, and bringing it to iOS devices at the same time. The new app features a three-tab design and is available starting today.

Thanks to an update introduced today, users can now find more relevant podcasts on Google Search. Apart from them being easier to find, users can also listen to podcast episodes from search results.

Google has announced a partnership with PRX to help get underrepresented groups more involved with podcasting. For those who don't apply, PRX will develop a podcasting 101 series to get them started.

Google today announced Google Podcasts, its new standalone podcasts app. Interestingly, the app is currently exclusive to its Android platform, with no mention of a version for iOS.
