Minecraft causing horizontal ghost lines?

Whenever I load up Minecraft horizontal ghost lines appear on my monitor. However, they disappear if I go into a menu (and re-appear when I close them). This doesn't happen with anything else. Anyone have an idea what might be causing this? I'm a bit stumped.

Edit: Running 64-bit Windows 7 (with 64-bit Java installed), will post hardware specs if anyone thinks it may help identify the issue.

This is a combination of the game engine and driver issues. Some older games used to do with my ATI X1950 a few years ago (I think Guild Wars had this issue with a couple of driver versions). Try upgrading / downgrading graphics drivers and see if it makes a difference.
