The Mojang team took to the stage at TwitchCon Europe earlier today to show off what it has planned for Minecraft in the coming months. This special edition Minecraft Live broadcast focused on the upcoming Chaos Cubed update, the next content drop after that, the Minecraft movie, and more.
The Minecraft Chaos Cubed update that was first announced at the last Minecraft Live back in March now has a release date. Carrying the sulfur caves and the new physics-based cube mob, Chaos Cubed will be released on June 16, 2026.
Mojang didn't stop there though, as the studio had a small teaser for what will be part of the next content update later in the year. While a name wasn't revealed, this update is now confirmed to have a brand-new biome titled The Dappled Forest.
Appearing on the overworld, this biome is autumn-themed, featuring poplar trees with colorful leaves and red shrubs as decorative plant blocks. Players will also run into a new structure in these areas, which are abandoned camps with a tent, campfire, lamp, chests, and a crafting bench. What's unique about this is that the tent is made with Wool Stairs, confirming a brand-new way of using the block and unlocking more colorful builds.

Later in the stream, Mojang revealed the official name of the Minecraft movie sequel to be "A Minecraft Movie Squared." Kirsten Dunst was also announced as a new addition to the project, coming in to play the role of Alex. The movie is supposed to release in the summer of 2027. The studio also revealed the "Minecraft Movie Build Challenge" today, which is offering the winning player a chance to bring their impressive in-game build over to the movie and even a private screening of it.
