Just wanted to say that I am really enjoying the OS so far. Some really cool applications yes its not as fluid as a Touch Screen but its really good otherwise.

This is just the start of something really different and new. The old start menu was good. But this is better. As a power user it will take me some re-learning but I can handle that and I think it will be for the better. :)

Its just the beginning not even out yet to the retail market and this could evolve into something not seen in a long time especially from Microsoft.

Well u could get back the start orb using apps like Start8, Classic, ViStart or others. I cant wait to download Windows 8 into my laptop via Dreamspark Pro, wonder when would Microsoft would make DreamSpark available to Dreamspark Pro users.

The temptation of picking up the leaked N version is getting higher and higher :D

Good!!

The new desktop enhancements like copy dialog and task manager are welcome change. However the desktop UI inconsistencies are utter disappointment.

So I can't say I am enjoying. Just learning to live with it.

as much as i want to install the leaked version i am going to purchase it just wish we didnt have to wait so long :/

Why not just download either the Windows 8 or Windows 8 Pro leak when they're available and activate with your key when you buy it? No difference IMO.

First of all, that leaked version doesn't have Windows Media Player, which is my primary media player. Secondly, that is an enterprise version, which means a Pro key won't work on it. Furthermore, Windows Media Center cannot be installed on it. Also, since the leak is activated, you cannot personalize Windows, including the start screen color and background.

....Which is why I said "Windows 8 or Windows 8 Pro leak when they're available". I'm pretty sure I know the difference between 8, 8 Pro, and 8 Enterprise.

Well then, my hopes are up for Windows 9. You guys realise Windows 9 is where Microsoft fix the buggy and unfinished OS that is Windows 8, right? Just as they did with Windows Vista - Windows 7.

I would be more forgiving if they actually tidied everything up before signing off the RTM. There are still WIndows XP icons hiding in here, too.

How is it buggy?

Pieces of Windows XP, Vista and 7 embedded everywhere in the OS. It's a mess. I haven't experienced any bugs myself but there are lots according to other people.

I actually warm to the visual style now (though I'll still be modifying it later on...) but still... the Metro apps are still just... pointless for Desktop users! Why bother? Have Windows RT for Metro and keep the normal stuff for Desktop users. I just want the performance boosts tbh...

If only, IF ONLY they spent more time tidying this up. It just doesn't feel complete.

So it's "unfinished" because it's still using some code from XP ? Dude, it's also using some code from Windows 1.0. All modern OS are based on code from their previous version.

Also, if you except an OS to have no bugs at all, then you can skip all OS too, especially since an OS that has reached RTM since a couple of days and who haven't received all the needed drivers is enough for you to skip it entirely during it's all life time.

Not code, but visuals. I'm not talking about what's underneath, but as a finished sent-to-manufacturers product, the Desktop mode is just so unfinished.

Does the RTM of 8 opening Media files from the deskop in Metro apps?

You can set it to. It's temperamental for me, it opens in Windows Photo Viewer until you start the Photos Metro app, then I think that takes over as default.

Windows 7 is the same way... Alos, Windows 8 is the start of a complete re-write of Windows. I expect Microsoft to purge more legacy junk for Windows 9 and replace it with a "Modern" counter-part.

Downloaded Enterprise N RTM its pretty nice other than the absence of aero I liked the way it was in RP but this just looks like windows 3.1 (dull bland flat desktop with no color gradients) collided with the current xbox 360 interface (metro).

I am liking it though it will take some getting used to but in the end it will be decent. I do however wish they would put a start button at least to launch metro rather than having to mouse over to the corner until you see the thumbnail.

You can keyboard-assist the launch as well - WinKey+C launches the Charm Bar, then click the middle icon to launch the StartScreen (utterly consistent with the Previews).

Windows 8 isn't the start of any complete re-write of Windows.... Windows 8 is probably 98% based on Windows 7 code.... dunno where you got that bad info from..

I was personally going off the removal of some old Windows features, such as the Start Menu, and the old Task Manager. I'm assuming Microsoft is going to purge more old code from Windows in Windows 9 to match it to the "Modern" UI.

So far I'm really enjoying Win 8! Does anybody know when or if the new synaptics drivers are out yet that allow you to use touch gestures on your trackpad? Also any news on a new version of Skype that works with Win8 RP?

Yes i know this, but im not about to download a pirated copy! Are you saying that i should be??

Well you made it sound as if the leak wasn't the final version "looking forward to seeing the final product" when it already is.
