[Blue] Things we'd like to see in Win8 Blue

31 posts in this topic

Off the cuff:

  • Desktop searching/spotlight
  • More arrangement/customization options on Taskbar Screen, including some form of nested container/fences
  • A desktop start menu/mobile app 'space' aka lapps on the desktop - Pokki-esque
  • Significant upgrades to the People app (and its notifications for the whiners)
  • Allow RT to run unsigned desktop apps (recompiled x86)
  • Decrease quality/feature gap between bundled RT and Desktop apps, mirrored system/control panel on both. (I disagree with 'killing it off')
  • Communication between RT/Desktop apps (general)

[*]Decrease quality/feature gap between bundled RT and Desktop apps

::chuckle:: You are quite the diplomat.

Boot to desktop would be much appreciated.

I try. ;)

I'll add better input recognition into the mix. A right click should be a different event from an upper/lower edge swipe, with a corresponding positional context menu.

I know it's not going to happen, but I wish Flip 3D would make a return.

Here is a small list of features I have in mind.

- Win + Prt Scrn is wonderful, but I'd love to have a shortcut key which only takes a screenshot of an active application window, perhaps Alt + Win + Prt Scrn?

- Ability to snap the Start screen next to the desktop or an open application.

- The ability to drag and drop items onto the Start screen. This was possible with the Start menu.

- Contextual items, such as Rename for items pinned to the Start screen.

- Horizontal window snapping on the desktop.

Just thought of more:

1. Built-in dictionary support in addition to spelling (grammar would also be nice)

2. Ability to remove Flash in the "turn windows features on or off" setting.
