Hello,

I have just installed the Windows 8.1 Preview, and unfortunately, I am having problems with pinning items to the Start screen. I cannot pin shortcuts from the desktop (such as iexplore.exe).

I am able to pin from the Application screen.

Is anyone else experiencing the same problem, or does anyone know of a solution? I would be most grateful.

Thank you for your time spent in reading this.

Alrighty, well I feel stupid.

Apparently, you are not allowed to pin both the desktop version and the Windows 8 version to the Start screen at the same time. This was possible in Windows 8.

If anyone else happens to experience something similar, try putting your application shortcut in C:\Users\%Username%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs and then pin it from All Apps view.

I hope others will benefit from this.
