Device Stage no longer an AutoPlay option in Windows 8

"Open Device Stage" is no longer an AutoPlay option for my mobile devices in Windows 8.1. It was in Windows 7, and I'm still able to access it via the Devices and Printers screen, just not automatically when they connect. Why was this removed? Is there any way to recover it?

EDIT: I suppose it can't be if it shows up outside of autoplay though?

Yeah I can open Device Stage just fine, it just isn't an AutoPlay option like it was in Windows 7. :/

 

I like using it for my phone and MP3 players and it was nice having it appear on the taskbar automatically whenever the device was connected instead of having to open it through Control Panel -> Devices and Printers -> Device

^ This isn't a solution (since I have no idea if they just removed it or if this is an issue specific to you), but can you pin devices and printers to make it a slightly shorter process?

Yeah, I made a shortcut to D&P on the desktop.

Control Panel > Autoplay does exist in Windows 8.1; the option Device Stage for those devices isn't in there? I'm sorry but this is a option i never used. :blush:

Yes I know it exists, that's what I posted a pic of, but the 'Open Device Stage' option isn't one of the options anymore.
