Well people, just stopped by my local Apple store and they had 9 of these babies ready for a home. No, 40gb yet, nor did they have the new Click Wheel iPod docks. Also, seems like Apple hasn't updated their retail software though, because they couldn't register my iPod when I bought it, so now I can just register it when I need service on the baby, anyways, here's a pic for now.

The Box1(for those who care)

The Box2(other side)

iPod Upclose

Accessories(firewire cable not pictured)

New Settings

:Audiobooks menu is Audiobooks>Slower/Normal/Faster

:Clicker options are Speaker/Headphones/Both/Off

iPod Backlit

New On-The-Go Playlist

:Save Playlist menu is Save Playlist>Cancel/Save Playlist

Box includes:

-iPod 20gb (DUH)

-Power outlet charger

-Firewire cable

-USB cable (no power cable needed to charge)

-Heaphones

-Manual, CD, etc.

-Big blue sheet that says "Free Music for your iPod" on one side, and then describes the free weekly singles on iTMS on the back (thought maybe they give ya an iTMS certificate.)

Things I've noticed, apart from the rumors:

-Click Wheel is not backlit, but the screen has a white backlight

-Clicker sounds slightly different from my iPod g3

-Click wheel is slightly stiffer than the iPod mini's

-No white plugs are included for the dock port

-Seems my iPod was partially charged when I bought it. Only took me 1 hour and now it says it's fully charged.

-On-The-Go playlist can now be saved, when saved, a new playlist is created (NewPlaylist 1, NewPlaylist 2, etc.) and the songs are moved there, the OTG playlist is then cleared. Saving playlists actually took about 5 seconds, which seemed a bit long for only 2 songs

-Songs can be deleted from the On-The-Go playlist by holding the middle button for about 3 seconds, same as adding a song

-Browse has simply been renamed to Music, it's not necessarily renamed for new content.

-FINAL BATTERY UPDATE: Well, my iPod has finally cut out after about 10 hours and 47 minutes of constant usage, on it's first charge. I had the EQ and Sound Check on, upped the contrast a bit, and the backlight timer was also set to 2 seconds. Every 30 minutes I would skip ahead 10 songs to reload the iPod's cache (and emulate actual usage.) Type of files played were mostly MP3's encoded between 192-256kbps. Final verdict: battery life now kicks butt!

-It seems the saved On-The-Go playlislts don't get added to iTunes when you sync it, they just get deleted

-The 4g iPod works with the 3g docks but does not fit snuggly, so you'll probably wanna wait for the 4g dock

-Given the above, im guessing 3g dock connector accessories should continue to function with this new generation

-NEW! Thanks in part to elmotan, when the iPod is playing and the headphones are unplugged, the iPod pauses itself. Vice versa, when the iPod is sleeping and headphones are plugged in, the iPod wakes itself up

I'll add things as I find em, and email me with any pic requests/questions: [email protected]

so basicly what everyone is so hyped up about is that it is 1mm thinner and they have changed the wheel to the same kind as the ipod mini?

I dont understand whats the big deal, i would be mad if i was waiting for a product and it had so little changes as the new ipod has....

I agree... I like my 3G 15gig ipod even though the new ones look nice... You can turn the 3G off by holding the Play/Pause button down too...

Ok for the dumbest question of the year:

I read a rumor about this and I can't find anywhere that either confirms it or denys it. Although Apple would have this posted all over thier site if they had it. Anyway here goes....

Does the 4G iPod have Wi-Fi so you can stream to the Air Port express?

Ok get ready to blast with sarcastic remarks...

No Wi-Fi this time around ;)

aww no backlit buttons....:(

Oh well...hows the sound quality compared to 3g? Hows the click wheel? Better than the touch? Also hows the screen compared to the 3g? Also....what is the click wheel made of?

Sound quality seems the same compared to 3g, perhaps a little better, but I don't have audiophile ears. The click wheel defintely is more intuitive, but it will take some getting used to compared to the touch buttons on the 3g. Screen resolution seems about the same as the 3g, perhaps better. And the click wheel seems to be made of a softer matte plastic.

    • Onkyo Dolby Atmos AV receivers are really solid deals by Sayan Sen Recently we covered great deals on several soundbar models from the likes of Sony, JBL, Samsung and others for really good prices (the lowest in several months). Aside from that we also reported on the Edifier S3000MKII, a hi-fi two-way bookshelf monitor that's available for only $800. Today we bring a list of AV receivers from Onkyo that are available at great prices including the Onkyo NR7100, RZ30, and 8470 (purchase links under the specs table down below). The Onkyo TX-NR7100 and Onkyo TX-RZ30 are both 9.2-channel AV receivers designed for immersive home theater setups but they occupy slightly different tiers within Onkyo’s lineup with the RZ30 positioned as the more advanced model. The TX-NR7100 is a THX Certified 9.2-channel receiver offering up to 100 W per channel (8 ohms, 2 channels driven). It supports Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, and IMAX Enhanced formats, with flexible configurations such as 5.1.4 or 7.1.2 speaker layouts. A key highlight is its built-in Dirac Live Room Correction which should help optimize sound based on your room and its acoustics. In comparison, both models share several core capabilities though the RZ30 is geared toward enthusiasts seeking more precise calibration and system flexibility, while the NR7100 is positioned as a slightly more accessible, value-focused option with strong all-round performance. The technical specs of the RZ30 and NR7100 9.2 AVRs are given in the table below: Specification Onkyo TX-RZ30 Onkyo TX-NR7100 Power Output (FTC, 2ch driven) ~100 W/ch (8Ω, 20Hz–20kHz, 0.08% THD) 100 W/ch (8Ω, 20Hz–20kHz, 0.08% THD) Dynamic / Peak Power 9 × 170 W (6Ω, 1kHz, 1% THD, 1ch driven) 220 W/ch (6Ω, 1kHz, 10% THD, 1ch driven) Frequency Response 5 Hz – 100 kHz (+1/-3 dB) 10 Hz – 100 kHz (+1/-3 dB) THD 0.08% 0.08% Room Correction Dirac Live (full bandwidth) Dirac Live (with AccuReflex support) Immersive Audio Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, IMAX Enhanced Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, IMAX Enhanced Speaker Layout Support Up to 7.2.2 / 5.2.4 / 9.2 processing Up to 7.2.4 / 5.2.4 / 9.2 processing HDMI Inputs / Outputs 6 inputs / 2 outputs (eARC) 6 inputs / 2 outputs (Main + Sub/Zone 2) HDMI 2.1 Support 8K/60, 4K/120, VRR, ALLM, QFT, DSC, eARC 8K/60, 4K/120, VRR, ALLM, QFT, DSC, eARC Video Formats HDR10+, Dolby Vision, HDCP 2.3 HDR10+, Dolby Vision, HDCP 2.3 Streaming / Network Wi-Fi, AirPlay 2, Chromecast, Bluetooth, DTS Play-Fi Wi-Fi, AirPlay 2, Chromecast, Bluetooth, DTS Play-Fi Get them at the links below: Onkyo TX-RZ30 9.2-Channel AV Receiver: $797.00 (Sold and shipped by Electronic Expo) Onkyo TX-NR7100 9.2-Channel AV Receiver: $699.00 (Sold and shipped by Adorma) Onkyo TX-8470 2 Ch Stereo Receiver: $449.00 (Sold and Shipped by Adorma) Good to know This Amazon deal is U.S. specific, and not available in other regions unless specified. • A different thing with Russia. When you say is it better, depends on things. It is better that we don't have the E.U making rules and laws that have nothing to do with them. Is the trading part better? No, that is really mucked up, but then we knew that was going to happen and we would have make agreements, like we do with other parts of the world. Freedom of movement is certainly better, but could be improved, we still need more control over our borders. do you live in the U.K?
    • So what am I quoting from them? I never listened to what Farage or his cronies said. I wanted the U.K to leave the E.u years before the referendum and it had nothing to do with Farage and his cronies. So what country do you live in? Did we work much better together? We were always at logger heads with the E.U because we disagreed with them so much. Maggie was always on at them. I would have thought the E.U was glad to get rid of us as we stopped the integration or made it a two tier. Now without us they can integrate more. I would not have voted out if it was just a trading block and we can still work together on somethings.
