Samsung launches One UI 8 Beta with AI and improvements, exclusive to S25 Galaxy series

Samsung has launched the One UI 8 public beta, which is based on Android 16, for customers with the latest Galaxy S25 smartphones. It is now available in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, and South Korea. The finalized OneUI 8 update will be available this summer, first on Samsung"s upcoming new foldable smartphones.

One UI 8 builds on the existing AI capabilities that Samsung introduced with the Galaxy S25 lineup earlier this year. The update focuses on multimodal capabilities, user experience optimizations for different device form factors, and personalized suggestions. There are not that many details about what exactly One UI 8 improves on the AI front, except for basic claims like multimodality support and faster performance.

Samsung is also improving the Reminder app with "more convenient and intuitive features," easier list sharing, and voice controls. Quick Share in the quick settings panel will let you send or receive files with a single tap. Also, One UI 8 enables Auracast connection with QR codes, allowing you to connect multiple devices to a shared audio stream. Multitasking is getting some useful improvements as well, allowing you to customize the screen orientation and resolution in Dex mode, and when in split-screen view, move one app to the edge of the screen to keep it partially visible and have more screen space for the second app.

There are also upgrades to Samsung Health, camera (you can swipe down to open quick notifications), accessibility, security, weather, calendar, alarms, and more.

The One UI 8 Beta is now available for the Galaxy S25 Ultra, Galaxy S25 Plus, and Galaxy S25. If you have a compatible smartphone and you live in one of the supported countries, you can sign up for testing using the Samsung Members app. Other countries and phones, including the upcoming Galaxy S25 Edge, will follow soon.
