Hey guys,

Just an announcement that QuickPwn for Windows has now been released. This software activates and jailbreaks iPhone, iPhone 3G and iPod Touch. Additionally it unlocks the original iPhone for use on any carrier.

This update includes support for the recently-released firmware v2.1.

Some of you may know I'm involved in this project so here's notification that we're just released it.

How safe is this? Should I wait until there's sufficient positive feedback? Is it at all possible to "brick" an iphone? The impression that i've got so far is that it can't possibly be irrevocably messed up, unless you bang it against a rock. Is this correct?

I haven't tried it yet, I will in about.. ohh 4 minutes.

All the comments I read on guides posted already (all 2 sites) both have positive reviews, I would say more then 95% say it works, and the other 5 are "hanging", but that could be a miscommunication error

Took me a little bit to figure out you need to put the 2.1 on your phone, then quickpwn... I wasn't sure about that whole part.

QuickPwn will Activate, Jailbreak and Unlock the original iPhone.

It will Activate and Jailbreak the iPhone 3G. So no, it will NOT unlock the iPhone 3G for use on any carrier - just the original iPhone. Currently there is no software unlock for the iPhone 3G, but it is being worked on.

Is there a list of applications (or a site with such a list) that can be installed on a jail-broken Apple PDA?

I don't own one just curious..

Umm, you may try iTunes, since it is connected with appstore. There is a bigger list of apps in a program called cydia, which are free

Will apps for 2.0.0 and 2.0.1 work with this firmware? Is there any substantial reason to upgrade (as of yet)?

Yes, all AppStore apps will continue to work with the 2.1 firmware. The greatest updates are in stability; FW v2.1 is almost as stable as the rock-solid FW v1.1.4 now, so I consider it a very important update.

      Normally, I admit when a title is clickbait (unfortunately, it's become somewhat necessary to compete against AI-dominated news sections today), but in this case, all supported versions is implied and doesn't need to be spelled out in the title. Of course, I'm covering a Patch Tuesday update bug that is only available to supported Windows SKUs. All our coverage relates to supported Windows software and SKUs only unless we expressly state that it's "unsupported", "unofficial", or "third-party". I'm sorry, but supported/official SKUs don't need to be spelled out as such in every Neowin headline.
