Rob Veteran Posted September 19, 2008 Veteran Share Posted September 19, 2008 Hey guys, Just an announcement that QuickPwn for Windows has now been released. This software activates and jailbreaks iPhone, iPhone 3G and iPod Touch. Additionally it unlocks the original iPhone for use on any carrier. This update includes support for the recently-released firmware v2.1. Some of you may know I'm involved in this project so here's notification that we're just released it. http://blog.iphone-dev.org/post/50888951/r...have-a-pwnapple You can stay up to date with these releases with a page I have created called iCommunity. http://www.poorlad.com/iCommunity

mamamamamamama
How safe is this? Should I wait until there's sufficient positive feedback? Is it at all possible to "brick" an iphone? The impression that i've got so far is that it can't possibly be irrevocably messed up, unless you bang it against a rock. Is this correct? I haven't tried it yet, I will in about.. ohh 4 minutes. All the comments I read on guides posted already (all 2 sites) both have positive reviews, I would say more then 95% say it works, and the other 5 are "hanging", but that could be a miscommunication error
Andrew Lyle Global Moderator Posted September 19, 2008 Global Moderator Share Posted September 19, 2008 Weird I can't edit.. anyways, +1 for works great Rob! Thank you so much... Took me a little bit to figure out you need to put the 2.1 on your phone, then quickpwn... I wasn't sure about that whole part.

The Canadian
Why is it, that my post "doubleTwist software liberates your iTunes songs" gets locked, but this one is allowed to stay open; really getting sick of the double standards this site has! Rob Veteran Posted September 19, 2008 Author Veteran Share Posted September 19, 2008 Nothing you can do with this tool is irreversible - you can always restore your phone to its previous state by choosing the Restore option in iTunes.

.Kompressor
Does this unlock iPhone to work on ANY 3G browsing network or Edge network ?? like the internet access through the mobile access ? not just Wi-Fi ?? can you confirm ?
Rob Veteran Posted September 20, 2008 Author Veteran Share Posted September 20, 2008 QuickPwn will Activate, Jailbreak and Unlock the original iPhone. It will Activate and Jailbreak the iPhone 3G. So no, it will NOT unlock the iPhone 3G for use on any carrier - just the original iPhone. Currently there is no software unlock for the iPhone 3G, but it is being worked on. OhMuffin
Whatever, I pwned my phone few days ago at school on a Mac. Also, for those people who don't have a mac, you can always pull the pre-pwned image off a torrent site.

Umm, you may try iTunes, since it is connected with appstore. There is a bigger list of apps in a program called cydia, which are free

mamamamamamama
Will apps for 2.0.0 and 2.0.1 work with this firmware? Is there any substantial reason to upgrade (as of yet)?
Rob Veteran Posted September 20, 2008 Author Veteran Share Posted September 20, 2008 Will apps for 2.0.0 and 2.0.1 work with this firmware? Is there any substantial reason to upgrade (as of yet)? Yes, all AppStore apps will continue to work with the 2.1 firmware. The greatest updates are in stability; FW v2.1 is almost as stable as the rock-solid FW v1.1.4 now, so I consider it a very important update.
