My NEW HDTV!

Recommended Posts

Before I went to bed last night, I thought to myself.. i'll be home for the next month watching movies, playing games, waiting till college starts back up (aside from working part time), that I thought, why not buy a new TV to keep me entertained.

My current 37" 1080i (ha, yes i) doesn't cut it anymore, and with previous "image burn" problems with my current tv, I wanted a massive upgrade.

So I went out and purchased a brand new Sony Bravia 52" 1080p @ 120Hz model: KDL52W4100

I don't have to pay anything on it for 1 year (after that, I got to pay interest, but i'll end up paying it off this summer).

I talked the sales guy to give me a blu-ray player for $100 (BDPS350), which also came with 3 free blu-ray movies, but I purchased The Dark Knight on top of it all :)

The TV was too big to fit into my car, so it is being delivered tomorrow morning :o

Congrats on the huge purchase. Bought myself the Samsung 52" LCD 1080p 120Hz last december. have loved it ever since. and most nice you got that bluray player for $100. i caught the sale a month ago from Sears where they were selling it for $150. I jumped on it fast. that is the last thing i needed for the home theater set up.

I always love the "it was too big to fit in my car" statement :)

Congrats on the TV. Not a Sony fan, but I'm sure it looks wonderful still. Enjoy it and if you haven't already, they make a VERY nice PC monitor :D

Congratulations on your purchase. That TV looks kick ass. How much is it going to cost you?

Awesome! we are still using a 30" CRT TV :( cant afford a new TV, infact we cant afford anything really.

I was out and about the other day and come across an awesome looking LG 60" plasma tv, the picture quality was so good it felt like i was going to fall into the TV. if only that was sitting in my living room :D, was ?1700 though i couldn't even afford a 2" TV right now:((

Now this time try to use full screen ;) lol to avoid having that nice line along the bottom :p

It was just the format of the movie, and the resolution I had set on my PC. Should be much better on real 1080p

It's here! and so damn big!

Man, I'm so envious! I've been looking at the Sony BRAVIA sets for a little while, particularly the 120Hz 52" sets, so you've got pretty much exactly what I would have bought. Get some pictures up here once you get it set up!

ive always wanted to get a 120hz lcd tv but my living room is too big for me to get a standard sized lcd and i didnt feel like spending 5k on a tv when i could spend 2k for a larger DLP. still waiting for the day when i can watch blu rays like you see them at the store.

Well, how old are you? I bought my plasma when I was 20, about 2 and a half years ago. I just signed up with a store credit card that had no interest financing for 18 months and calculated how much I would need to pay. I ended up paying between $100 and $150 per month and didn't use the card for anything else. Got it paid off within about 16 months, then I destroyed the card. Worked out great.

Perhaps maybe we should start a thread where people can announce and post pictures of their new HDTVs. They do that at the AVS Forum. I would start one myself but I don't want to end up starting a "useless" thread and have it end up turning into a flame war.

Not a bad idea, and I doubt it would turn into any war.

People are usually just in "awe" when people get sweet HDTV setups, as opposed to trying to "flame" people over brands/styles. The show off your gaming setup topic is very popular.

I'm sure quite a few people will be getting new setups over Christmas as well (Y)
