How does one join the Neowin F4 Club?

I don't have access to the game anymore, but from memory when you're on the Main Menu click Community, and then Clubs. It'll ask you to input the acronym for the club you want to join. The Neowin club is NWN, so type that in and the club leader will be asked to approve or decline your membership. :)

[ NEWS ]

  • 11/05/2011 - It's finally here. enjoy!
  • 11/02/2011 - There has been evidence of sabotage and some of the database entries are corrupt with incorrect data. We have to verify every car and fix their specifications in order to move on.
  • 11/02/2011 - In case anyone doesn't know or missed it. The deadline for the entries to the beta was when it was launched. Thanks to everyone for their support but unfortunately we already have more than enough testers.
  • 10/24/2011 - We are done with the database and beta testing is a go.
  • 10/20/2011 - Update: we are about 76.6% done with the database.
  • 10/19/2011 - Don't forget to purchase the fmtc beta vinyl in my storefront and show your support by slapping it on your car, take a picture and upload it here on this thread. I will write your name down and will pm you the beta when it is ready.
  • 10/18/2011 - I apologize if it is taking so long. We are currently working on a car database with vehicle measurements for each car. Which means a better base tune and less user input.
  • 10/16/2011 - Announcing a new feature called the Priority Upgrade Table. Stay tuned for more information.
  • 10/12/2011 - Just created a club. [FMTC] Forza Tuning Labs. For those who enjoy the engineering aspect of the game.
  • 10/12/2011 - Got the game and I'm ready to work!
  • 10/11/2011 - Welcome. I?m currently getting ready. Have questions? Fire away!

Enjoy!

One of the weird things about in game suspension tuning is that you don't have to actually drive the car... so unless the track has odd bumps in it, you can just make every part of the suspension super stiff. Same with tire pressure (to a point). Alignment makes a huge difference in the cars handling, but I've yet to have a car that I felt handled markedly worse lowered and with high spring rates.

A good gear ratio calculator is nice though, as figuring out torque curves and shift points for drag racing can be pretty hit or miss in game.

personally i find upgrades are less impactful in this one than previous Forzas. also, i lament the fact that all upgrades are now generic manufacturer parts rather than proper brands, except rims i guess. overall this is an excellent racer, i love it, but there's little need to really modify a car, at least for SP. the AI drivers are just too easy!

  • 1 month later...

Just started to play this game and im not impressed.

Cars of the same rating are speeding off at the start and down the straights, why is this?

Because being the same rating doesn't mean they're identical, this is a sim game, ot an arcade game where the rating number decides everything.

The rating means the cars are just about equal in total. However some cars will accelerate faster, some will corner better and some will have a uhc higher top speed. All these three will drive completely different have the same rating and be ale to finish the track at about the same time.

that's a very good explanation. my problem with this one is that it's more of a grind than the previous entries, but it could be just me. i loved Forza 3, this one i just like. the cars perform great but the fact that it's mostly the same tracks is annoying, plus i don't like that dumbed down upgrade system with no more branded parts. i also feel like upgrades really don't make as much of a difference.

Dont talk down at me im not an idiot.

Explain how me in my S700 rated Mclaren F1 and the AI in an identical S700 rated Mclaren F1 can pull away from me in the straights and leave me for dust, brake and corner much later than i can?

Im finding the game incredibly difficult and frustrating to play.

because his car is tuned better than yours and he's driving better than your, and you're not driving on easy ...

Also I was not talking own to you, Nor was I thinking or implying you where an idiot, I was just explaining why there are differences. Replies like that could change ones opinion of you regarding that though.

If you're talking about the start of the race, then there is a proper way to launch rather than put the petal (or trigger) to the floor.

Im not talking about the start of the race im talking about during the race.

Ok gotcha. Well there's still an ideal way to go around corners in regards to braking and then applying throttle. There's a big speed loss to be had in a straightaway if you hit the incoming corner wrong.

I'm not sure if you can still watch replays of the best recorded laps for courses, but that's the best way to figure out the tricks.

I know how to corner, braking in a straight line and not slamming on the brakes, not just flooring accelerator, hitting the apex etc..

It just annoys me how every other AI car of a lesser rating can just smoke me down the straight.

Ok never ever, ever had this happen to me unless the car was seriously tuned above my own. Also i find the ai even at best settings is awful at corners so you should be making up 90% of your time in them over the ai.

Only time ai cars overtake me on straights like how your describing is when they`ve been drafting up my arse for a while.

Got a new official xbox wheel last week for Forza 4 and what a different game it is now.

Loving it!!

Does a good wheel change the game alot? I've never played with a wheel. I haven't bought Forza4 yet because I feel forza'd out. But I am intrigued by trying a wheel out.

I have the Official MS Wheel and to me it makes the game a lot more engaging and fun. I would look in to one!

Yip same here. I didnt use gears on controller, but i do with my wheel as like NoLiMiT06 says, its much more engaging. I too am Forza`d out for now (BF3 drool) but I still log on to have a wee drive with my wheel most days. Even if it is just me and my flatmate "pretending" were in a real car and stopping for a smoke to let the traffic by (other racers lol).

Weve also now got our Topgear wall of fame on the go, due to the wheel :)

I was looking through the Neowin club's shared car garage, and I saw DigitalE managed to get his hands on the Mazda RX-7 Spirit R. So thanks to him for sharing one in the garage, but how did you get your hands on one? Isn't it meant to be a unicorn car? I'm jealous! :p

Edit: Ooh, 1,000th post. Sweet.

    • Free Software Foundation Europe pushes EU to force Google to allow AI uninstalls on Android by Paul Hill Credit: Pexels Users should be able to fully uninstall AI-based features from Android devices and be able to access interoperability functions, free from Google’s verification requirements, the European Commission has heard as part of an Android interoperability consultation under the Digital Markets Act. These measures were proposed by the Free Software Foundation Europe (FSFE) last week when it submitted its documentation. The FSFE noted that Google had started silently installing AI models without telling users. It noted that the EU’s DMA requires companies like Google to allow users to uninstall pre-loaded software from their devices, but in the case of the AI models Google is installing, they reinstall if you delete them, contravening the DMA. To get Google back under control, the FSFE has told the European Commission that there needs to be improvements within the Android Open Source Project (AOSP). First, it said that users should be able to fully remove pre-loaded AI components from their devices, with companies being prohibited from silently reinstalling or reactivating them. Second, access to Android interoperability features should not be contingent on registration, authorization, or contractual relationships with Google. This pertains to Google’s attempt to force developers to register with Google, even to publish apps to alternative app stores like F-Droid. Discussing its submission, Lucas Lasota, FSFE Legal Programme Manager, said: Google is planning to roll out its Android Developer Certification in September 2026. This will force every Android app developer to register with Google before their software can be installed on certified Android devices, but it should affect those who have removed Google Apps from their device. The program is controversial because it entails the signing of contracts and payment of account fees to Google, as well as the handing over of the identities of developers. It said: The FSFE said that if the Commission’s draft measures remain unchanged, then Google will be allowed to make developers verify their identity. The FSFE believes that asking developers to register is contrary to the text and spirit of the law. In summary, the FSFE has told the Commission that no developer should need a Google account, a Play Store presence, or any agreement with Google to access Android’s interoperability features.
