Shiranui
I'm no friend of the church, but that is not a very nice thing to do -- people dip their fingers in that and draw crosses on their foreheads.
Yorak
Oh, well played sir. Your witticism sure put the rest of us in our places -_- /sigh Putting people in their places? Come on, man. It is my birthday, I have better things to do (FYI, I would have better things to do even if it was not my birthday - do not be too alarmed, it is okay). My point was supporting vandalism is childish, just like my example. ?Entienden?
Sir Topham Hatt
Well, it's nice that you understand our lack of beliefs, although you may want to note that atheists generally don't think "they have gone to a better place". What with them being atheists and all, a belief in the afterlife seems somewhat unlikely. I think what you meant is that you think that, and that you're unfortunately unable to separate your personal beliefs from those of others. You should probably also take note of the fact that atheists don't go crying to the church for help. ]And why do you assume atheists were praying to god for aid on the 9/11? Again, that was YOU praying to god, not us. Maybe you are in a minority of atheists. The majority I speak to believe in "some kind of higher being". I mean, look at all the people that turned out, cried and bought gifts for Princess Diana. And no, I didn't pray for anyone or anything to do with 9/11. As it didn't even affect me, then I have no real opinion on it. Putting all that aside, it's still not a great quality to completely disrespect someone's beliefs or values. That's the whole problem with our world.
Mountain Dew
then ****ed your wife in every room in the house The question is, would I be allowed to watch? :shifty: As regards the rest. I don't find it funny or unfunny. They did it, they hopefully get caught & taught a lesson. I probably would have laughed though if the story had included them taking a dump in one of the organ pipes.

Sir Topham Hatt
They would call themselves atheists. Even so, it's about respect. Showing porn on a big screen isn't really in the same league of "dis-respect" than what has happened here. It's a shame you seem to think it was okay. Kevin Flynn
Peeing in Holy Water isn't funny. Even if you don't believe, that is a disgusting and vile act to do. Shame on all of you.

Right, I agree it's like peeing in a public pool!.. now if they had chlorine in said holy water.. then there would be no problem.

Nihilus
They would call themselves atheists. In that case they're not-so-bright theists :p It still doesn't change the fact that your claim that the majority of atheists believe in a deity is, well, ridiculous. Even so, it's about respect. Showing porn on a big screen isn't really in the same league of "dis-respect" than what has happened here. It's a shame you seem to think it was okay. I'd say displaying pornography on a giant screen, purely for shock factor, is not particularly respectful. In fact the very reason that it's amusing is that it's disrespectful. So I guess what you meant is that it's about respecting the wishes of people that you agree with? In my opinion I care neither about displaying porn on a big screen, nor about someone peeing in some holy water. I view both with a vague kind of amusement, but they are both disrespecting the wishes or beliefs of others. I find it odd that you can find one thing amusing, when it disrespects the wishes of people you do not agree with, and yet not see the hypocrisy of slating others for similar amusement at a different groups expense. Porn on a big screen isn't the same. it isn't even close to the same as it isn't hurting anyone like vandalising a church is. Yes, let's cover the kids eyes or whatever, but really, it's not the same. 2. Let's say you like flowers. Someone destroying the flowers is like this whole church vandal thing. They've damaged things permanently. It's not just the pee in the water, it's the damage to the building too! 3. If you don't care about it, then why are you even posting in the thread? While I suspect you'll reply, I can't be bothered to argue with someone with simply will never be able to see that is't just wrong. I feel sorry for your closed mind :(

I have a friend who may disagree with you on that point if you were to expose his daughter to hardcore pornography :p 2. I hate flowers. Well, I don't, but I also don't particularly care about (most) old buildings or vaguely "it's kind of an antique" type items. But even if I did, I'd still see and understand the funny side concerning the peeing in the water aspect, even if I didn't personally share any amusement over it. 3. Because as I said, I find it vaguely amusing, and there was an interesting debate going on. Then I read your post, and got annoyed by a theist saying atheists believe in the afterlife, pray to a deity and the indirect implication that we wish we could "go crying to the church". Anyway, I guess we're going to have to agree to disagree, however calling someone close minded because you failed to sway them in a debate is a little low. I've changed my mind mid-debate in threads on this forum a number of times, I'm not beyond reasoning if an argument is put to me I don't believe I can counter. Although in this case I'm more than happy to call it quits, as long as you don't still think the majority of atheists believe in a deity :p
