I tried to play online but just couldnt get it

What are we supposed to be doing?

The greeveling, ok why would you want to change to a greeveling when you can be a hero?

As soon as I went near an enemy they just killed me straight away with like 1 hit so what is the point of the match?

i thought it was released, as you can buy it now.

http://store.steampowered.com/app/570/

They are selling "early access to dota2 with lots of cosmetic bundles."

Dota 2 will be a free to play once released and it wont have any "pay to win" elements.

This is not a game you will be able to understand just by playing once or twice and wont be able to reach "mid skilled" level before ~300 to 500 games. Learning curve is more steep than any other games.

oh also play with AI for your first 50 games.

Yet whenever I decide to play I'm left looking at the screen for five minutes and no games are found :(

So far I've only played one game which despite half the team I was on leaving we won but I did enjoy it

I think it's because most players aren't in the low skill bracket. If you just start to play, you'll be able to find a match right away but after awhile it'll take longer. Even at my level, it can take as long as 5 minutes to find a match.

How do you lock the camera on the hero?

So I don't have to worry about the camera - I couldn't figure it out. It Leage of Legends there is a button for that on the interface and keyboard - 'c' I believe - what is the equivalent in DOTA 2?

I went though the controls couldn't figure it out for some reason -.-

Also the store items are not sortable or is it just me?

Better late than never :)

In console type:

dota_camera_lock 1
0 to disable

You can bind that to a key with the following command (where X/Y = any key):

bind "X" "dota_camera_lock 1"
bind "Y" "dota_camera_lock 0"

I missed this game's release and now I'm addicted to it.

I think it's cheesy what Valve's done, but since the game is free, I have no complaints.

I'll be playing it till Blizzard's Heroes of the Storm comes out.

PM me if you want to team up or just chat. :)

I've put so many hours into it (close to 1,800). What do you mean by "cheesy"?

how's it cheesy, atleast say why. Dota2 is far from cheesy, its competitive, grueling, action packed, exciting and involves flexible skill caps ... sure. Cheesy, not so much. Also, the new earth and ember spirits are fun to play, i've had more success with ember, doing -> phase, ring of aquila, drums, b.fury, desolator. It solves two problems : mana and damage spread. Also mjjilnor is really good on that hero, I did the sleight of fist with multiple chain lightnings, so good. I've yet to try and get linkens on him, it would solve alot of problems.

also yes add me, 'Im keen to jam with some neowin folk i'm ' Kaa-ching' :d

    • Yeah, this is absolutely nothing new and EA have done it before. Burnout Paradise, released in 2008, had dynamic advertising billboards that were updated via the internet and targeted people based on location and what EA knew about them from their profile. It was particularly notable for the fact that the Obama presidential campaign ran ads in the game, in an attempt to reach a younger audience who didn't watch broadcast TV any more. It was by no means the first though. Battlefield 2142 from 2006 had the same thing. In fact, Neowin wrote a story about it back then. https://www.neowin.net/news/ba...-in-game-ads-clarification/
    • This is obviously aimed at the education where Apple has lost so much ground to Chromebooks in the last few years, but unless they come up with a comparable management system for education why would anyone switch back?
    • Here's how we arrived at that claim: Note that this is just Play Store downloads. The app is also available on the Galaxy App Store
    • Google Play states the app had more than 50 million downloads. What other metric do you suggest should be used?
    • MSN defined our generation in some ways, kind of like Snapchat and TikTok have done for future generations. I have great memories of the MSN era in the late 90s / early 2000s. In the UK everyone seemed to come home from School and go on MSN for the evening. We didn't really have mobile phones then, so other than going and knocking on your friends door it was a totally new way of interacting with people. I also loved how I could talk to people I’d met playing online games from around the world. Inviting people to NetMeeting and messing about with the shared white board and webcams was pretty fun, even if webcams only ran at a couple of fps over dial-up. All the random things you could do with MsgPlus! were really fun - I suspect that made a few people jump with /shello randomly blasting Mr Hankey out their speakers! Maybe I’m just nostalgic, however I do feel the internet and computers were more fun back then.
