Guys, how did you change font of time on taskbar to white?

You can't really change the color of the font (not that I know of). When you have the Aero glass theme selected, the text is white. When it's Aero basic, like the one you're using, the text is black.

Desktop app tiles look terrible. The current mishmash of desktop/metro really doesn't work well.

Have to agree with that one.. for the "classic" applications they should have laid the tiles out in the same format.. larger icon, text underneath, etc.. still wouldn't give any of the live info but at least it would look more consistent.

Apparently, that's been fixed.

Not a huge fan of the "Metro" style to be honest. I'm seriously considering holding onto my Windows 7 install, and wait for the next one after Windows 8 instead.

What i'd like to see for "non-Metro" apps, is an OPTION to allow the icons to be JUST an icon, and no text visible unless you hover the cursor over the icon.

can you tell me which theme you are using for Win 8.

Wow it looks like a theme to you? Its just raw Windows 8 with Greyish aero color , without transparency , taskbar on top , and chrome with grey theme. If you really want a theme , here it is : http://zeusosx.deviantart.com/art/ZEUS-os-X-world-for-windows-8-Realease-Preview-312730083

At least now you can enjoy your wallpaper more since, at least for me and some others, you won't have to pin icons to the desktop. I'm really thinking I'll finally go multimonitor with Win8 but now the question is should I opt for the new monitor to be touch screen as well? If so it'd be the one that always shows the start screen while I keep doing what i'm doing on the desktop like I have been. Simple glance to the left to see the live tiles and if I have to do anything I can just quickly reach up to hit the tile and not have to drag the mouse all the way over.

for me i don't like having desktop apps on metro so my setup desktop apps on desktop taskbar and metro apps on startscreen :)

if you have a monitor without touch i'd say go for touch screen monitor in that way you will enjoy both worlds more

im going to do the same

That's what I'm thinking as well, right now on Win7 I have my most used apps pinned to the taskbar, which would be the same thing I do for Win8. Some stuff I don't use often are pinned on the desktop though but those can be pinned to the start screen (shortcuts to games etc).

    • Microsoft released new Defender update for Windows 11, 10, Server ISO installations by Sayan Sen Microsoft releases new Windows Defender update packages very frequently to protect against various newly discovered malware. Once a while every three months or so, the company also pushes out these updates to Windows images (WIM and VHD) and ISOs, that are used to install Windows. Hence with the newest Windows 11 update available via the official MCT tool, you should get these definitions. This update package is necessary as a Windows installation image may contain old, outdated anti-malware definitions and software binaries. Aside from better security, these updates can also provide improved performance benefits in some cases. When a new Windows installation is set up, there may be a temporary security risk due to outdated Microsoft Defender protection in the OS installation images. This happens because the antimalware software included in these images might not be up to date. Thus Microsoft says that these updated definitions essentially help close this protection gap. Microsoft delivered the latest security definitions for Windows images via security intelligence update version 1.445.323.0. The Defender package version is also the same. It applies to Windows 11, Windows 10 ESU, Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2021, Win 10 Ent LTSC 2019, Win 10 Ent LTSB 2016, Windows Server 2022, Windows Server 2019, and Windows Server 2016. Microsoft writes: "This package updates the anti-malware client, anti-malware engine, and signature versions in the OS installation images to following versions: Platform version: 4.18.26040.7 Engine version: 1.1.26040.8 Security intelligence version: 1.447.236.0" From Microsoft's security bulletin, we learn that the security intelligence update version 1.447.236.0 was released early last month and adds threat detections for various malware like trojan, backdoor exploits, ransomware, stealers, AutoKMS, and more. For those wondering, the latest intelligence update is version 1.451.297.0 at the time of writing.
    • Hello, Hope all is well. I am in UK.
    • I'm not happy with myself for it, but I've gone and got hold of it. Just another 45 minutes and I'll be Bond, James Bond. In my defence, IO's Hitman series is awesome, and I'm a sucker for 007. So while it might seem a bit simplified compared to Hitman, I'm sure I'll be right at home.
    • Or just check the script yourself ^^. I hate having a Microsoft account tied to my windows install.
