I got bored of the game. Blizz failed imo to create a long lasting game

People quit Diablo 2 after months/years because they eventually got bored of it. Diablo 3 is Diablo 2 with less features and customization. Item customization is poor and not very diverse, and the rune system isnt anywhere as interesting as Diablo 2 was with its synergy system. No PVP, and Inferno is stupidly boring with mobs that do 70k damage a hit..half the classes couldnt survive that hit with any amount of gear.

They also removed any sense of community from the game. In d2, you had to spam trade channels and join trade games to barter with other players. Now we have this broken and 'impersonal' auction house. Blizzard was so afraid of Chinese Farmers they made it so you're forced to go through it, and they want to suck as much money out of it through commission.

While the match making system is the ONLY advantage Battle.net 2.0 has over 1.0, its also a downside. No one talks to eachother in the game anymore.

This game reminds me of SWTOR, its a single player game with a chat box, except in D3's case, you dont even need the chat box.

Overall, this games basic design is poor.

People played D2 for months and years because it was a GREAT game and they had little to NO alternatives. The online RPG genre was still evolving and MMORGS were pretty non-existent back then.

How old were you when D2 was out? Why do you think that the things that were fun to you back then would still be fun?

Hack-and-slash is boring in general (unless you are 12), but I, for one, have bought the game for more than that - I like the story, the graphics, and the game's dark and suspenseful environment. Sure, I like to smash things and kill monsters, but I appreciate the game mechanics and how the stats work a lot more. D3 has remained a diablo game for me. I'm totally happy with how the game has evolved.

Well, PVP is coming and the inferno difficulty is supposed to be a challenge given it's the highest difficulty level and all.

Spamming a channel to trade or to find a group IS NOT a fun experience. And I love how seamlessly D3 does it now.

Yeah, coz people are busy killing stuff.

Why didn't you ask me when I was giving codes out? lol.

SImple, I did not want it then.

Got two codes actually, so if someone needs one PM me. Thanks to those who gave me the codes. (Y)

I think the reason folks are feeling 'bored' or disinterested is partly due to some of these things just missing from the game.

The reason I am bored an disinterested is because I have a very poor attention span especially if I over-do something. I played D3 for like.. 13 hours in the first 2 days it was out (and that's with working 8 hours a day). The game is very short in the fact it's 4 acts, that the only way to max level is re-play on harder difficulties. If there was say.. 8 acts or more that you could get to near cap by playing out normal, it would be less of an issue.

Sure the replayability is huge as the mobs evolve and change and get a lot harder, but it's just going through the story you have already been through. Don't get me wrong I give D3 a >90% review/rating I just think that it's not necessarily the lack of things, it's the fact you just keep redoing what you have already done.

Just use Skype.

yeah that's one thing. Skype decreases your game volume when you or the other person talk. Is there anyway to fix this?

Fine :p. lol.

honestly evolving mobs isn't really replayability, you're still playing the same game. in fact since the mobs evolve, you're pretty much killing the exact same game, as you get better the mobs get better to. Well you do get new spells and stuff, but still. with the same story every time, that's not really replayability, back in 2000 yeah, but not today.

Having played through on my wizard and on act 3 on my barb I'm getting quite bored with doing the same stuff, I've already seen the story. and the Barb is total easy mode compared to the wizard as well. I don't even have to use any strategy, stand next to the big bosses and hack away, don't even need to worry about health packs

Yeah, there's a setting in skype. or there's one in the volume settings in windows reducing volume during VOIP.

Skype isn't something I'd suggest anyway. it uses to much bandwidth and prio on the voice because it's designed as an actual calling app. use Vent or TS which is designed to be used with games and don't increase ping and use less bandwidth.

Just use Skype.

Skype isn't a good alternative because of the extra bandwidth it uses. I used it for a short while when voice chat didn't work for me in StarCraft 2 and it made me lag.

Right click the speaker icon in your taskbar's notification area and select playback devices. Then, click on the communications tab.

There's also a setting in windows for this: Sound Settings > Communication Tab > Check the box for "Do nothing". I had this problem with games doing this to mumble, and this fixed it.

EDIT: See Anaron beat me to it lol.

Fine :p. lol.

Yeah at the time I was playing Max Payne 3 and had Ghost Recon coming up, and I also totally forgot D3 can be played on a Mac, so since I always have my Macbook Pro not to far away, plan on checking it out on it. Thanks though. (Y)

That's your opinion though, for me I find that evolving mobs and changed fights allow replayability regardless of the year. I have a buddy who has a level 60 barb, that is getting roflstomped in Inferno. With 70k hp he is getting 2 shotted (solo, 1 shotted when in group). So while barb is ez-mode in normal, nightmare, hell it becomes hardmode in inferno.

If you could get to near-cap on Normal, what would be the incentive to even play the higher difficulties? I think part of the draw to Diablo for me is that it doesn't just give you the cap on a silver platter, so to speak. For topic of discussion, what do you think Blizzard can/should do for the game?

But I definitely see your point and nobody can argue against someone's personal experience. Its a shame that the luster a lot of us had in the D2 days isn't there for D3 (again, for me it is but there are a lot of folks where it isn't). Probably the most damning thing was the 12-year development. I think its interesting that StarCraft can have an 11-year hiatus and SC2 feels like the game never skipped a beat. As someone pointed out before, maybe its just the genre itself. Regardless, I hope D3 lasts a long time.

I think the incentive would be the better gear, better items, etc as it is now. What I was thinking was not increasing XP, not making the game any easier so to speak, however making it much longer. Double the length story wise. What I would of liked was more side quests, maybe unlocked in harder difficulties. More ambush / fight the hordes style events. Or special side-bosses that you kill. However certain quests and such would only appear on higher difficulties.

I understand the game is linear and I am fine with that, but having different events, quests, etc for higher difficulties would be awesome. I don't PVP so that's a non issue, but I want to feel like I am unlocking things or progressing beyond people outside of just gear, level, and difficulty.

I'd like to have an almost mmo feel of accomplishment of unlocking new areas, new quests, new monsters, whatever it may be. I know that's not what D3 is about, but that's what I would want to see. Honestly.. I'd prefer to see the game harder and longer overall.

Bosses need better drops imo.

Doubt they will get it, Blizzard has said they don't want people boss farming for things like they did in D2, which is why killing champion packs gives you better MF (at 60).

Actually, with the buff, the bosses drops are just fine. I had 5 stacks earlier when I helped Razor, and I had diablo in Nightmare mode drop 3 yellows and 6 blues.

With the level 60 MF buff, drops are just awesome now :)

Now that would be cool. You make some valid points, firey.

Oh look, the real money AH is delayed again until 6/12. Not that it affects me, personally, but just adds to Blizz comedy.

Hmm I didn't realize it was so bandwidth heavy. I've been using it for a couple games for several months now and haven't noticed a big impact. Honestly, I never even thought it could be making any kind of impact. Maybe i'll look at a couple of alternatives if it's as bad as you guys say.

Right, but getting those 5 stacks is easier said than done (at least in inferno), so you have to do that before fighting a boss, and doesn't it only last for that one game? (I know it disappears when you change builds, but am not level 60 yet so I don't know the specifics).

The point is, you can't run to the boss ignoring everything else, and kill him for the best drops, it's viable to get the 5 stacks of the MF buff and continue farming champions or then move on to a boss.....running only the bosses is not nearly as viable as it was in D2.

yeah but you know... worthless drops are worthless. lol.

Ok, so now I'm apparently part of the 2% that has made it to Inferno... **** THAT! The regular mobs and bosses are just fine and require a little skill and learning... but the rares and elites are just stupid... stupid stupid. Run into a pack, and I don't even have the time to press the 2 key to activate my invuln spell... I just melt instantly. This goes on about 10 more times, until my wizard friend was able to kill them due to my distracting them enough. Just insanity. The drops are pretty crazy as well, but still haven't found anything of use.

As for the level 60 buff, it rules, and most of you have the wrong perception on it it seems. It stacks up to 5 times, for a total of I think 80% MF. You get 1 stack per yellow you kill, and 1 stack per blue you kill. So a blue mob can actually give you 3 stacks. It last for 30 minutes, and renews every time you kill another blue or rare. It does not refresh on bosses or minibosses, just rares and elites. It does not expire with death, only with time. So it is very very easy to keep the 5 stacks on you through out a whole act, to a boss.

@Razor, Diablo in Hell Mode was insane last night. Can't believe it took that many tries. Our final strat was to just spread out and run away when Diablo would make the clones of us. Becuase if 2 of those clones focused their attacks, they would take every one out in a second. Even our spread technique didn't work, as both Razor and my friend Box dropped, and I got a lucky rez on them both somehow. Diablo in Hell Mode is how Diablo should be in every version. That fight was exciting.

    • Same Internet Archive seemed to grab the new version https://web.archive.org/web/20...d/Setup_MakeMKV_v1.18.4.exe Here's the link to an additional file it periodically downloads https://web.archive.org/web/20260213092148/https://www.makemkv.com/sdf.bin I think update's keys, etc. To manually trigger this update, put the sdf.bin file in the root of where the program is installed. When you launch the program it will pick up the file and import it. Typically put it here: C:\Program Files (x86)\MakeMKV\sdf.bin
    • Windows 11 KB5094126, KB5093998 bugging out Office apps but it may not be Microsoft's fault by Sayan Sen Microsoft last week released Windows 11 KB5094126 and KB5093998 as the latest Patch Tuesday updates. Following that the company also published the accompanying dynamic updates under KB5094149, KB5095971, and KB5094156. Although the tech giant did not acknowledge any major problems, some users online reported various issues ranging from OneDrive and Dropbox access problems, BitLocker recovery lockouts, to blue screens and BSODs. You can read about them in this dedicated piece. While there is still no confirmation about those problems from Microsoft the company has admitted to another bug which we did not report on. The tech giant has confirmed it has received reports of an issue in which certain third-party applications may be unable to launch Microsoft Office apps or open Office documents after installing the Patch Tuesday. This affects both Windows 11 as well as Windows 10. The company says the problem impacts a subset of applications that rely on OLE (Object Linking and Embedding) automation to communicate with Microsoft Office programs. According to Microsoft, affected scenarios involve third-party software attempting to open Office applications or documents from within their own interface. In such cases, the Office program may fail to launch altogether, or the requested document may not open. Oddly there may not be any error message, which probably makes the issue difficult to diagnose. The bug affects several Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and other apps in the Microsoft Office suite when they are launched through the affected software. These include tax and accounting software such as CCH Engagement and Workpaper Manager, dental practice management solutions like Dentrix and Softdent, as well as the popular research and reference management tool Zotero. Microsoft adds that other applications using similar Office integration methods could also experience the same problematic behavior. To understand the issue it is important to look at OLE, the Microsoft technology involved. OLE allows different applications to work together and share data, while its Automation feature lets one program control another. Thus this enables third-party software to launch Microsoft Office apps, open documents, and perform tasks automatically without requiring users to switch between programs. Because many accounting, healthcare, research, and business applications rely on OLE automation to interact with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other Office apps, any disruption can break those workflows. As a result, affected software may be unable to open Office documents or launch Office applications even though the programs themselves continue to work normally. At the moment the company has not provided a permanent fix though it has confirmed that engineers are actively working on a resolution, which will be delivered through a future Windows update. As such additional details will be shared once more information becomes available. In the meantime, Microsoft recommends a simple workaround for affected users whic is to open the Office application or document directly rather than launching it through the third-party program. For enterprise customers and organizations managing larger deployments, Microsoft says an additional mitigation is available. Admins experiencing the problem on their managed devices are advised to contact Microsoft Support for business to obtain and apply the workaround.
