Are you sure about the Skill sets not affecting shown DPS? I could have sworn it was changing when I was messing with the different Skills. I know it shows up in the 'Details' button of your character but that, in turn, should affect overall DPS, no?

To pop in about the AH, I agree with most here, which is why my friend and I aren't using AH at all except to sell stuff. But even then, the market is all over the place so you can find 2 of the same item for VASTLY different prices. I'm glad Blizz kept it as a separate entity (requiring you to go to it at the menu instead of in-game). Its easy to just skip over it, really.

Lastly, are we able to change our Bnet ID?

Some skills will change certain stats based upon the type of attack or whatever... Like Monk has a skill that increases all damage after the 3rd hit for whatever seconds. It doesn't change any damage stats in the details page though. There are others that I see actually affect my DPS, as if I use my heal that gives me 15% more holy damage, I will see that pop in and out of my DPS details while it is activated. Some do, some don't :p

I don't think I'll get a chance to get on tonight... Normally Tues and Thurs are nights I'm not supposed to game :p But if the woman gets distracted by anything, I might be able to help. If not, tomorrow I will.

ah all right. Does anyone know why I can't join public games in hell act 1? Like it's blurred out. But I can join Act II and III for some reason.

BlizzardCS?@BlizzardCS

We are looking into an issue with #D3 causing players to be stuck at 'retrieving hero list'. We'll provide updates as they become available.

I still don't get the primary attribute (str= barb, dex=monk, etc) how it increases your damage.

For example, if I equip an item that says, Increases damage by 2-3, 3-4, 4-6, etc my DPS (on the character sheet) increases a LOT compared too if I equipo a +20 str thing on it.

They haven't said what the exact ratio is, to my knowledge. Probably so they can tweak it without notice. Straight +damage and +attack speed items are much better than a +stat though. Its probably possible to figure the exact numbers out by switching items around, but I CBA to do that.

Found this on the EU battle.net forums, might help a little:

+1 strength = +1% damage

To keep it simple

Assume that your weapon does 20 damage and you have 100 strength, you will hit for 20 + (100% of 20) = 40

Case A : if you add +2 damage your new damage will be : 22 + (100% of 22) = 44

Case B : if you add 22 strength (without the +2 damage in case A) your damage will be : 20 + (122% of 20) = 44.4

So when you have 20 damage and 100 strength : +2 damage is roughly equal to 22 strength

==============

This means that +damage is highly beneficial if you have high strength, and +strength is highly beneficial if you have high weapon damage... The trick is to find the sweet spot :)

Well, i'm sure it ain't easy when you've got a combined 17+ million people to accomodate with WoW + D3

It's not impossible to handle that kind of load. Certainly not with the resources Blizzard has. Why should their paying D3 customers have to even care about how many people are playing WoW?

That's for Blizzard to worry about. In my opinion they didn't do enough to insure server stability and are more or less waiting it out until the initial surge of players wears down.

There is no reason to defend a company for not providing a service as advertised. Would you sell something to someone knowing that they won't be able to use the item/service whenever they want because of random malfunctions on your end?

This is your hard-earned cash and you should expect and demand a good service. If you don't, you'll not get it.

P.S.

I encourage you to watch this video: You Should Be Mad at Diablo III's Always Online DRM

I paid 60$ knowing full well what I was buying. Playing WoW for 5+ years I knew what I was in for. I understood what could happen, and I still decided to buy it. I should not be mad at blizzard, if I were to be mad, it should be mad at myself, had I just went and bought it and not taking into account things blizzard said from the get go.

Played a little further though Act 1 on Hell difficulty with my buddy last night. We both hit the AH at the beginning of the act to bring our gear up a bit. Basically replaced all of our < level 40 gear with level 50-52 gear (our current level was 52).

Not sure if Blizzard tweaked the item drops or if I was just lucky, but in about half the act I had 2 solid ups that dropped off of mobs. A weapon dps upgrade (that was actually better than the AH one I bought) and a chest piece upgrade. Both were level 51. My buddy also got a shoulder piece up during the same time. We were seeing most item drops at about 5-10 levels below us, and the occasional drop that was only 1 or 2 levels below us. Perhaps we were just lucky last night.

Seems like the toughest mobs are the side quest ones. Stupid frogs with immune buddies seem to just rape us. This video I saw posted on the Blizzard forums seems appropriate to describe how we were feeling (pretty funny):

I agree with your points. Blizzard puts an exceptional amount of spit-shine-and-polish on their products. The vast majority of games currently being sold for $60 don't even come close to the same quality level.

Just luck.....that's 90% of gearing in the Diablo series (including D3)....My monk is up to 57 and I got one or two drops the other day that was better than the AH stuff I just bought (kind of annoyed me), while my 56 monk buddy didn't get a single drop worth even putting in the AH.

Run into any invulnerable guys (I assume that's what you mean by immune)? They are annoying as crap....."Oh hey, lets make it so you can ONLY hurt one out of this group of 5, and you HAVE to kill that one to get rid of the others....oh, and he's arcane enchanted...". There actually seems to be a bug with invulnerable mobs, if you leave the area and go back in, they all die....I don't think you get drops but it's better than having to remake because you can't kill them.

Hey, I posted that video yesterday on here :p But said it's how I feel when playing Inferno in Act 1 right now lol.

Lot's of AH fixes (Y)

So, how am I suppose to find a weapon with a minimum base damage stat? Am I missing something or is that field not searchable for 1-handed weapons for a Barbarian? Like I want to only see weapons with a 200 minimum base damage stat? I can't seem to find that field in the drop down lists, I must be blind. I can set the minimum strength to 100 or whatever...

Edit: In reference to the AH.

Wow, sucks man. I've been able to login and play every single time I've tried (since release).

That sucks :(. I had issues logging in on the release day and then a little bit of an issue last night. Other than that, no real problems. Blizzard is issuing refunds to people not happy about server downtime.

The Ultra 9 185H features 16 cores and 22 threads running at up to 5.1 GHz. It also includes a dedicated NPU utilizing Intel AI Boost at 11 TOPS. On the graphics front, the 185H includes the still fairly capable ARC Graphics (not to be confused with the newer ARC 140T) integrated GPU with a max GPU frequency of 2350 MHz across 8 Xe-cores. It has been said that the iGPU is equivalent to the NVIDIA GeForce 3050 and GTX 1650 in gaming and synthetic benchmarks. Other highlights include an AMOLED display, LPDDR5x memory at 7467 MT/s, WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, and a fingerprint sensor built into the power button. AI PC? Although the Intel Core Ultra 9 185H includes a dedicated NPU, it's only 11 TOPS; therefore, it does not qualify as a Copilot+ PC. However, it can reach up to 33 TOPS with a combination of NPU, CPU, and GPU. As I said, although we only reviewed the X14 Pro, the unboxing is the same for the X16 Pro, which I noted in my review. The packaging is quite a nice experience. The outer box houses the X16 Pro box with a small compartment that contains the 5-in-1 Dock ($40 value), which appears to be an "Early Bird" inclusion. Upon removing the box cover, the X16 Pro is revealed sitting in a cardboard compartment with two small booklets of documentation.
