I think this is a great point and this kind of perspective is being lost on pretty much everything in today's world. People speak as if its the gospel, that no other position on an issue should be had. I posted that in the WoW thread - I am absolutely enjoying WoW in 2012 much more so than in December 2004. But, my experience is the minority, a lot of people hate the changes.

That's because they're short sighted. I could go further in detail, but it's really something you see more when you've played the game enough, that the real flaws stand out like an eyesore. :/

I'll probably be playing this until the Skyrim DLC comes out. Maybe Torchlight 2.

Consider this: An equivalent game for $15 if you split it among friends with a 4-pack. $15... That's the cost of a month of WoW for a full blown game many consider on par with D3. :p

Sorry, I like to push people towards awesome games lol.

I liked the first Torch Light and will likely get into the 2nd one. I'm just worried that by the time it is released because of D3 I will be sick of the genera for awhile. Probably get into it by the end of the year, anyway. I think that having multiplayer will make it much more fun to play than the first one.

Not to derail the topic, but TL2 is WAY better than the first. I always got bored with the first to be honest, but this is fast paced and plenty of fun. (Y)

You're still basically saying: I don't like the game, therefore you shouldn't. People can have different opinions, that's really what I want to communicate.

Personally, I don't have much interest in playing to Inferno - if there's some flaws apparent there (and I know there are), fair enough. But, since I don't particularly care for Inferno and there's lots of stuff I can do before Inferno (like level several classes), I'm still quite happy playing the parts of the game I actually care about.

And, while those flaws generally don't directly affect me (weird farming techniques, etc.), I'm still capable of having an opinion on them, and able to see that they are attempting to deal with many of them, and in ways I think make sense.

Also, I like Torchlight and will probably buy TL2. :)

It's okay to have a differing opinion. My comment was more like: there is a reason the community is upset, play the game more and you'll understand. :p

Btw, I suggest following http://www.diablofans.com/ for up to date news.

That's ... not possible? Everything is stored server side, and it actively records quest progression, etc.

Are you absolutely sure? I've not seen anyone else mention any such loss of progression or gear that way - I suggest taking it up with Blizzard. That is absolutely 100% not ever supposed to happen, or even be a possibility.

I mean that seriously. If there are server rollbacks happening, that is a major issue for Diablo. Given that, the fact I've never seen anyone mention it makes me ... doubtful, to say the least.

No to what? There wasn't something in what I said to say 'no' to?

Complain, but complain constructively. Besides, no, I'm quite happy defending Blizzard's choices if I agree with them. You can't make me disagree with them (and make me stop enjoying Diablo) just because you do. They frequently detail their rationale in forum and blog posts, and frankly, I've rarely seen anything to disagree with. Remember, they have the long term future of the game to consider, not every individual person's immediate enjoyment levels. Super powerful classes (e.g. DH pre-fix) might be fun for those playing them, but the long term results are bad.

Definitely happened. I got a magic item zoned out of the dungeon area I was in completely. It loaded the over world then dc'd, when I logged back in I was back in the dungeon area and had to fight the mini-boss again, and the first magic item he dropped was no longer in my inventory. It's just a guest pass so it's no biggie. Definitely sealed my opinion on the game though.

****ING A BLIZZARD IS FULL OF dip****S ARRRRGG! Sorry for that, but maybe after this story, you will see why I'm even more ****ed at Blizzard.

Last Thursday, before I went on vacation to the beach, I emailed Blizzard about a "account banned" message I saw popping up on the forums near my old WoW account name. I then left for vacation. I get back, try to log into D3 and get told that my password is incorrect. I freak the **** out. I quickly go to battle.net to see if it is just D3 messing up, but no go, password incorrect. I then log into my email, and see a email saying, " Your password has been reset". So I freak out again, but think, " well, my email password is so much different and secure than my battle.net, so I'm sure they weren't able to reset the password fully..." And I was right, I click the link in the email, make the new password, and continue to play.

I then log into Battle.net this morning to see if they answered my ticket, and all comes to light...

"Travis Sturdivant

says account banned

I haven't played WoW in probably over 4 to 5 years. I started playing Diablo 3 when it came out a little while ago.

This morning, upon logging into battle.net and reading through the Diablo 3 forums, I noticed a portion of the page that had a WoW character of mine named, and then a message saying that the account was banned.

I wasn't ever banned when I initially quit WoW, but I have seen a lot of odd blizzard mailings in the years appear in my mail box. I always thought these were just spam password stealing mailings that people get, and ignored them.

Did something happen to my WoW account? Did someone actually manage to steal my account and do anything? It shouldn't have had any use since the Wrath of the Lich King, because I quit just after getting that expansion. I'm just curious. I won't ever play that game again, but I am just wondering what happened with my account that lead it to get banned while it wasn't in use or active.

How was it compromised? THAT WAS MY QUESTION. You never answered it. Instead, you freaked me the **** out by resetting my password for no reason. I don't even play WoW anymore, and I haven't for about 4 years. I just wanted to know why it was compromised. I did not ask for anything to be done, except for an explanation as to why I was getting the "Your account is blocked" message on the forums. But since you can't even ****ing read a question and certainly can't respond with a answer, I don't even know why I bothered. All you did was create more of a headache for me than was needed. You are HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SUPPORT!

Again, I did not want my password reset. I have control of my account, and have never had any issues with my email or this battle.net account. I have a authenticator. You support is the worst ever. Id rather get no response than the responses you guys churn out."

So ya, a sort of long read, but you can tell Blizzard is just ****ty Customer Support. They don't bother to even read what you are asking, and just copy and paste responses. They then go out of their way to make a bigger problem for you, without contacting you before hand. All I was asking was why it was saying my account was banned, for a game I hadn't played in over 4 years, and for an account that shouldn't have ever been "compromised". I was getting this "account banned" message for a while, and just now wanted to know why. It has said that for a few years, since I was doing SC2 Beta plays. I never cared about it really, because I was never going back to WoW, but I was interested to know why it had gotten to that status.

**** this company, seriously. I'm quickly wanting Torchlight 2 already.

Looks very similar to the last time I contacted blizzard supoort, too. Even had the same nonsense with the password and spam emails.

I've got to the point of just berating them in the support tickets. They haven't once answered me about the question at hand, and always do this. It's just too infuriating now. Why even have a support option if you don't provide any?

I've never had a problem with Blizz support. They've always been able to solve issue at hand for me.

What is your tactic? All I get are copy and paste responses that don't even answer my initial question. Or they talk to me like I'm a kid, when I'm 30 years old, and know the difference between their ****ty game freezing on me and what a real "ill timed disconnect" is.

I'm pretty sure they aren't supposed to tell you HOW your account was compromised, they just change the password and email you to say your account password was changed. And no need to "freak out" as their recovery system is quite good. Takes like 5 minutes to recover everything.

Sounds like Blizzard does nothing but make you extremely unhappy. Maybe it's time for you to move on, take a breather, play something else?

They reset my password without ever saying they did or without me even asking. They said it was banned for "In Game Activity". They can say for what, either foul language, harassment, or whatever it could have been. Instead, they say , " Your Account was Compromised", which doesn't give me any info, since my account actually has never been compromised.

They performed actions that were not needed at the time. My account was "compromised" by their words, about 4 years ago. Since then, I've had to remake my log in name under their Battle.net system, and nothing has ever happened as well under this system/account.

It's easy to tell that they are not doing anything of significance anymore. They ignore their customers with copy and paste responses, tell them to just accept whatever mistake they made, and have already shown to put no effort into what they are doing with the game. Hell, they didn't even test 1.0.3 before releasing it. They just made guesses and threw them out for us to test.

That is what is making me mad. I paid them good money for a product they don't even seem to support. They won't even give support for their customers now, without talking down or not talking at all.

I've worked in customer support for Microsoft on the Xbox and many other systems. I helped MLB get their games streaming online with SilverLight and helped provide support for the first year it was available. Before my current business investment, I had worked in Online Whatevercompany/product Tech Support for 9 years. I know how to actually provide support, and this is not it.

Maybe you are fine with subpar support, but I like to voice my digust so that they can improve themselves. Nothing gets better if you just accept OK.

Hell, they didn't even test 1.0.3 before releasing it. They just made guesses and threw them out for us to test.

If you want people to take you more seriously, don't resort to silly hyperbole. I get that you're frustrated, but you're going to destroy people's sympathy for you if you start going overboard, throwing out wild accusations and obvious fallacies.

It isn't hyperbole.... they didn't test this patch. It came out a week after their other patch. They just randomly capped and nerfed items, without actually testing how it would affect anything. They have already admited that they now have to go back and retweak the repair bills and how items get "durability loss", because it isn't "working". They even admitting to not testing inferno past act 1, and just randomly upped the numbers for the other acts. Maybe you should read more about the game, instead of saying people are bull**** when they arent. Unless you want to look more like an ass.

And I'm not asking or looking for sympathy. I'm just giving my interactions with them for others to see. I don't see any where that I asked for pitty. And if you dislike people talking bad about D3, be happy this thread hasn't turned out like the actual D3 forums. Nothing but bashing going on there, because as many know, this game is seriously flawed atm.

Also, you want to take me seriously now? I complained, and I got my answer finally -

Hi there!

Thanks for contacting us. I'm sorry that I wasn't able to talk to you while you were online.

Well, the question in your first ticket was "what happened with my account that lead it to get banned while it wasn't in use or active." I can answer that here for you, the person who hacked your account used it to bot and farm things. Hackers like to do that kind of thing, but that has been corrected and your account is no longer banned. It's locked, but you can reverse that when you like.

As for how your account was compromised, that's a little harder to answer. I'm not sure how they got your account info. Perhaps it was a Keylogger, a website that you used the same login and password getting hacked, or even a phishing email that was clicked. There are many ways that these guys get into accounts, and none of them are really under our control. That's why we have things like the authenticator.

As for the password reset, I'm sorry that scared you. Generally when we see an account hacked and no password changes from the time they were hacked we reset the password. That was the case here, and it's not good to let hackers just sit around with your account info without making some changes.

May your loots be epic and I hope you continue to enjoy your experience in World of Warcraft!

Game Master Chulholut

I guess the password I was using for WoW at the time wasn't really secure, but I don't use anything like that anymore.

What really confuses me though... How can a account get hacked and banned, when it wasn't even activated? Just seems fishy still. I just don't think hackers actually enter in their Credit Card info to get a account going again :p My account was canceled a long time ago, which is why I ignored all their emails saying whatever about it lol.

What is your tactic? All I get are copy and paste responses that don't even answer my initial question. Or they talk to me like I'm a kid, when I'm 30 years old, and know the difference between their ****ty game freezing on me and what a real "ill timed disconnect" is.

I always call in. Even though it takes time and I've done the trouble shooting steps already allow them to do it again(As bad as this sounds if they don't have an accent you can skip that part). Doing anything over email/IM is just a mistake IMO. Just call in wait on hold for 30mins(I've never waited longer than 5 with them). Always treat the person with respect even if they make you sound like a child gotta remember most users of games/computers aren't the smartest ones.

Ah ya, I might have to do that if I come across another issue, which I hopefully wont. Phone support always goes well for me.. And normally so does Email. They finally answered me, but only after 2 failed attempts of showing they weren't even reading my problem. I just sent a reply asking if my account was re-activated at some point. Because if not, there is no way it could have then been compromised and used to farm gold. I know absolutely nothing about gold farmers and their tactics, but it seems odd for them to reactivate an account.... at least to me. I could be wrong on that.

What happened with me is they used a free trial to access my account. Apparently blizzard gives you a new one every time they release an expansion.

What happened with me is they used a free trial to access my account. Apparently blizzard gives you a new one every time they release an expansion.

My wife had that happen a few years ago. Her account was hacked, they reactivated it, and we received an email of reactivation. She immediately changed her login info and ended up with 3 months on the hacker's game card lol.

Ya, seems like it was a free trial access or card used. Oh well, at least that solves the mystery of those emails a few years ago. I just always creditted them to password scamming emails and ignored them, since I was never going back to WoW anyways.

I think I'm making head way in D3.... If headway is called "still running through act 1 inferno saving gold and now have 500k of gold" :p I still can't make any progress past where I'm at in act 2, and farming act 2 is just too expense for repairs to have it be worth while. Act 1 is just too easy and boring... but it seems to be the only option I have, until I save up a few million for a better weapon.

Also, me and a friend, while playing last night, were talking about the most useless of useless stats... Gold Pick Up... Just why? Why do we need to have that at all? Why can't everyone just pick up gold in a certian radius? This talk started after a friend noticed me running in circles and asked why. I told him I had negative gold pick up, and unless I actually clicked on the gold number, I wasn't going to grab it :p So we started talking about it and how blizzard stated they were trying to make things not be useless and everything have a meaning for this... But gold pick up just doesn't belong. There is no reason for really having this stat other than, " I don't want to run closer to the gold on the ground." This is just a bad idea that somehow got enough traction in developlement to stick for some reason. We are hoping that eventually, blizzard just removes this and gives everyone a good size radius for picking up gold.

Just got to Ghom with my monk and... RAGE. I get him down to about half health but at that point I run out of space, the whole room is filled with gas that kills me in couple seconds. And each try costs about 10k in repairs.. 2xRAGE.

Means your doing the fight wrong. As a melee, you want to go in with 3 ranged. The 3 ranged dps the boss while you dps the adds. Have the boss kited around the edge of the room. If it is being done correctly, the gas will disappear as you make it around the room. If not, it means the group you are with are low on dps. Also, dont let the boss cut the corners and walk around the columns. If you do, someone eventually gets trapped between the gas and has to wait for the next pass to get free or rezzed.
