School Punishes Boy for Opposing Homosexuality

Recommended Posts

Yes, Shirley MacLaine is open minded enough to believe in astrology, ghosts, new age spirituality and occultism.

Well various forms of ghosts, do exist.

Stay at haunted places and see for yourself.

And New Age spirituality is really very old.

;)

Change it to "I think womens rights are wrong" or "I think giving jobs to blacks is wrong" and suddenly everyone will care.

He's a kid, but this sort of homophobia is what breeds the violent nature of society in the future. If he's not punished now for having such bigoted views, he'll think it's fine to hate people just because their lives are different to his own.

"Love thy neighbour" my ass.

Get real. His "opinion" is worthless and based on hate and ignorance. It has no value and doesn't deserve to be acknowledged. There's nothing good or redeeming about bigotry.

Homosexuality is a sin, and it is a disease. Homosexuals should be punished severely if they don't change their ways. Anyone who opposes to homosexuals should be awarded. Atheists are ignorant, and religious people are right.

-- See I can do this too.

I see nothing wrong with being punished voicing such an unfounded opinion.

Unfounded according to you, but not according to billions of religious people around the world.

That's why the solution is COMPLETE freedom of speech. EVERYONE should be allowed to say ANYTHING -- as long as they don't physically harm others. So, anti-homophobic, anti-religious, racist, Nazi -- every kind of OPINION should be allowed. NOBODY should FORCE others believe their own versions of what is wrong and what is right.

Now, the way that the boy stated about homosexuals is everything for me.

Had he said to his friend "I think homosexuality is wrong" I feel this would be acceptable, everyone should be entitled to an opinion. As an opinion cannot be true or false, it is just an opinion.

But as he apparently said "Homosexuality is wrong" that is stating his opinion as a fact, and essentially forcing it on others as a misguided false "truth"

Unfounded according to you, but not according to billions of religious people around the world.

What nonsense. For starters, all opinions aren't equal or deserving of respect. Secondly, discrimination can harm people in many ways other than just physical harm.

Your "belief" in an unproven supernatural being doesn't give you the right to undermine another persons rights or treat them as a second class citizen.

What nonsense. For starters, all opinions aren't equal or deserving of respect.

You dont' want to respect my opinion, no problem. Just I like have every right not to respect your opinion.

Secondly, discrimination can harm people in many ways other than just physical harm.

And being punished for opposing Homosexuality can harm people in many ways too.

Your "belief" in an unproven supernatural being doesn't give you the right to undermine another persons rights or treat them as a second class citizen.

Similarly I could say:

Your "non-belief" in a proven (according to me) supernatural being doesn't give you the right to undermine another person's belief.

Your "belief" in an unproven supernatural being doesn't give you the right to undermine another persons rights or treat them as a second class citizen.

And you not believing in a Christians beliefs doesn't give you the right to undermine a Christians rights or treat them as a second class citizen. The kid did nothing wrong. He has an opinion which he has the right to do. It doesn't matter if its right or wrong. Nobody has the right to tell anyone what they have to believe. If he believes being homosexual is wrong, that's his right, just as it is your right to believe he is a bigot.

+1

And being punished for opposing Homosexuality can harm people in many ways too.

As it should. Homosexuals aren't doing you any harm so there's no good reason to "oppose" them. Your opposition is just discrimination and doesn't deserve protection.

...a proven (according to me) supernatural being...

Perhaps you'd like to share this proof with the rest of us? Somehow I doubt you will.

I don't get this. Government wants people to bear more and more babies, and because government wants even more people than women want to deliver they import millions of immigrants. On the other side they spend billions encouraging homosexuality. What's the point? Look at Germany - they have overwhelming levels of homosexuality and that's why Germans have basically no children at all, Turks now make children for them. Is it what the government really wants?

Yeah, and I don't like anyone that lectures me who should I like or not like.

The words have not yet been invented to describe just how harrowingly stupid this post is, my God, are you for real! How old are you? 10? Also your grasp of the English language is shocking, did you go to school at all?

As it should. Homosexuals aren't doing you any harm so there's no good reason to "oppose" them. Your opposition is just discrimination and doesn't deserve protection.

Well, if the Homosexuals feel mentally harmed when someone calls them sinful, they deserve that too. There's no good reason to be homosexual (according to me and others).

See we can go on and on like this forever.

Perhaps you'd like to share this proof with the rest of us? Somehow I doubt you will.

I'm sure my proof won't be acceptable to you. Just like your "proof" of things like evolution is not acceptable to me.

Of course I have the right to question spurious and ridiculous beliefs. People, including the teacher in the classroom, also have the right to stand up to bigotry and hatred. Religion isn't a get out of gaol free card that can be used to justify hatred and discrimination.

I doubt you'd be so quick to jump to the child's defence if he was spouting racism rather than homophobia ;)

Well, if the Homosexuals feel mentally harmed when someone calls them sinful, they deserve that too. There's no good reason to be homosexual (according to me and others).

You may think you have a reason for your bigotry but it's not a good reason.

I'm sure my proof won't be acceptable to you. Just like your "proof" of things like evolution is not acceptable to me.

How unsurprising

Well would this be such a hot issue had the subject not been about gays? I agree that this should not have been discussed in a school setting and the teen should not have been subjected to punishment because he exercised his right to free speech, but I suspect that he knew that a comment such as that would provoke the teacher and or whom ever he was speaking with, and that was the reason for his statement.

You're most likely right about him trying to antagonize... Kids will be kids. lol

But on the topic of discussing things like this in school, I think that schools should be preaching tolerance. Whether it be the geeky kid or a homosexual. Too often kids grow up in intolerant homes and wind up being intolerant adults who have intolerant children... The cycle really needs to stop.

I wish you could understand how stupid that post was but you probably never will. How do you even turn on your computer?

LMAO Best post I've read in ages.

Of course I have the right to question spurious and ridiculous beliefs. People, including the teacher in the classroom, also have the right to stand up to bigotry and hatred. ......

Isn't the teacher a bigot for not letting the student have his own beliefs? Bigotry works both ways in this situation.

You're most likely right about him trying to antagonize... Kids will be kids. lol

it's not the job of schools or the government to socially engineer children. That is parents responsiblity. if parents raise their children to hate gays.. that's their own business.

The words have not yet been invented to describe just how harrowingly stupid this post is, my God, are you for real! How old are you? 10? Also your grasp of the English language is shocking, did you go to school at all?

while the birthrate of people in first and second world nations is appauling, especially white people, that doesn't make it the gays fault. I blame feminism.

Well, I'd say it *kinda* is the business of the people he hates... LOL

It's not socially acceptable to hate other groups, so this should be no different. And honestly, given the choice, it's the last group I'd hate...

while the birthrate of people in first and second world nations is appauling, especially white people, that doesn't make it the gays fault. I blame feminism.

Appalling: ap?pall?ing/??p?liNG/ Adjective: Awful; terrible

I am presuming that you have quoted my post because .... you agree with me?

As far as I know, socioeconomics refers broadly to the "use of economics in the study of society" and what it shows is that if societies are better educated and wealthy they tend to have far less children than those from poor, uneducated ones! I sincerely doubt that feminism has anything to do with it! Correct me if I am wrong!

    • A different thing with Russia. When you say is it better, depends on things. It is better that we don't have the E.U making rules and laws that have nothing to do with them. Is the trading part better? No, that is really mucked up, but then we knew that was going to happen and we would have make agreements, like we do with other parts of the world. Freedom of movement is certainly better, but could be improved, we still need more control over our borders. do you live in the U.K?
    • So what am I quoting from them? I never listened to what Farage or his cronies said. I wanted the U.K to leave the E.u years before the referendum and it had nothing to do with Farage and his cronies. So what country do you live in? Did we work much better together? We were always at logger heads with the E.U because we disagreed with them so much. Maggie was always on at them. I would have thought the E.U was glad to get rid of us as we stopped the integration or made it a two tier. Now without us they can integrate more. I would not have voted out if it was just a trading block and we can still work together on somethings.

    • Apple reportedly looks to blacklisted Chinese memory chips as RAM prices climb by Karthik Mudaliar Image via Apple Apple is reportedly trying to get a clearance from the Trump administration to buy memory from ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT) to get some relief from soaring DRAM prices. As per a report by the Financial Times, Apple approached the Commerce Department more than a month ago and also spoke to other officials and allies in Washington. For starters, CXMT is a company that's already been placed on the Pentagon's list of Chinese military companies. The Chinese company is the country's top DRAM maker. For Apple, the timing is certainly awkward but not surprising. Tim Cook had recently warned that Apple would have to raise prices because AI companies are buying up large amounts of memory for data centers, and just like that, Apple raised MacBook and iPad prices. Micron also recently revealed that customers have committed billions of dollars to secure memory supply years in advance, which shows us how aggressive securing infrastructure has become. This gives suppliers such as Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron more leverage, while pushing hardware makers to look for alternatives. CXMT is one of those alternatives, but not the simplest one. Apple has spent many years trying to diversify parts of its supply chain away from China, especially for final assembly, while still depending heavily on Chinese manufacturing and suppliers. Even domestic brands from China are moving towards CXMT and YMTC instead of relying on Samsung, Micron, and SK Hynix. For Apple, though, it would invite more scrutiny than local Chinese companies. For now, this is more like a lobbying effort rather than a confirmed supply deal. There's no official statement from either of the parties. What is clearer, though, is the pressure behind such a request. AI demand has certainly made hardware a bottleneck, and companies are trying everything they can to bring things back to normal, even if that means making politically sensitive choices.
