win7 Shutdown when other users logged on.

I've searched on google and can't seem to find anything on this, so hoping you guys can help out.

I've got my Media Center in the living room. Each night I remote into it (into a hidden remote$ user account) from my laptop to set up the conversions for the night, then set it to shut down after they are finished. However, it is not shutting down as the 'are you sure you want to shut down as other users are logged on' message comes up. Is there any way to disable this message?

I can't remote into the 'main' media center user account as I don't want a password set up on it.

Have you already tried a forced shutdown? e.g. bring up an elevated cmd prompt & enter

shutdown /s /f /t 0

I've tried it, and it does work. But The conversion program I use can't run command lines once finished. :-/

Can't you give your main media center account a password and just have it auto-login?

Now the username will still auto logon but now it will have a password to it which may be the answers for your situation.

Or log out your main account when logged in as remote and then run your conversions.

You could try running the program through a batch file, & force the batch file to wait for your conversion program to finish before doing the shutdown? e.g. something along these lines:

cmd.exe /c start /wait yourconversion.exe
shutdown /s /f /t 0

If not that, then somehow keeping the other account from being auto logged in, or making sure it's logged out, like Reason mentioned.

Good point. If the app has a "quit when done" option (which I assume it would, since it has a "shutdown when done"), this might just work.

Or, you could also raise the issue with the developers of said app. They may be nice enough to put a "run command when done" option for you :)

I would just run the conversion on the main account that is logged in.. Just setup a password on the account, which can be auto logged into this will allow you to rdp to the account - use a /admin on the connection and you will get for sure the same session that is logged in local.

This way when the app goes to shutdown the machine there will be no issues of any other session running on the machine and it should shut down just fine.
