DirecTV Fires Back at Fox: Files Complaint With FCC

Piracy, it's why people do it.

It's not the want to avoid paying, it's the want to avoid paying and then getting advertisements rammed down our throats and treated like pirates even though we bought the damn thing and so on and so forth.

When companies start working that out, we will be a much better place as consumers; and they'll make more money..

How else should they make money? It's expensive to run this sort of business. Or do you just mean the amount of commercials?

Of course not, I'm in favour of paying whatever is required for the service.

I am against paying that and then having tons of ads driven down my throat :\

I want these companies to survive. It's like Steam, I give them money because they try and do the right thing for consumers. I don't like a lot of the stuff they do, but overall they are pretty good..

I'd support NetFlix/Hulu et all if they were in Australia rather than pirating because I am willing to pay for the server. I am not willing to pay for the service with ads/"Don't pirate or you will go to hell" videos and the various other anti-consumer bull**** the companies insist on ramming down our throats..

The most telling thing for me is this: my brother and I both used to pirate all our games. When steam started selling at reasonable prices with GOOD service we started buying. We won't buy games that are $100 in Aus and $50 in the US because that's *********, but we still buy stuff.. And I haven't pirated a game in at least 6 months. I didn't even realise this until my brother observed he hadn't either..

The service was offered us, we paid for it /shrug

The only thing I watch on Fox is the NFL but they also have Fox Soccer Channel which, since I am a huge soccer fan, will suck losing. I have no doubt that a deal will get done but this could turn into another Versus charade. According to DirecTV, Fox wants to charge a 40% increase, which is outrageous.

DirectTV would still have NFL Sunday Ticket, so they wouldn't lose all the feeds from FOX as they are guaranteed to get it with that deal with the NFL

You sure about that? They won't lose the CBS streams but why would they keep the Fox streams?

Looks like they settled on something. Hope it doesn't mean higher prices for DirecTV customers...
