Ready for Primetime? AT&T announces its own "enterprise-ready" entertainment Android tablet

AT&T has unveiled its new own-brand tablet, with an "entertainment-first experience" that it's also promoting as "enterprise-ready" - and yet, it revealed almost nothing about the device's specs.

AT&T has unveiled a new own-brand tablet, called the Primetime. The carrier describes it as "a portable tablet built for a robust and immersive multimedia entertainment experience".

The Primetime comes with AT&T's DirecTV Now app, along with a built-in "TV Mode, which offers access to your favorite video apps like DirecTV in one quick touch or swipe", which is somehow superior to simply launching an app by tapping on its icon like on every other device in the world. Despite focusing the entire proposition of the tablet on entertainment, AT&T also emphasized that it's "enterprise-ready".

AT&T's announcement is woefully light on details about the new tablet. Aside from revealing that it's got a "10-inch Full HD screen", this is all we know of its specs:

  • 2.0GHz octa-core processor
  • Dual front-facing speakers with Dolby Audio
  • Dual Bluetooth media streams
  • 9,070mAh battery

The carrier has said nothing about how much RAM or onboard storage the Primetime offers; whether it has expandable storage; the resolution of its cameras; its exact dimensions and weight; or the version of Android that it comes with.

Nonetheless, AT&T hopes partially-informed customers will be lining up to buy the Primetime for $10 a month on a 20-month installment plan, or $29.99 with a two-year contract. "For more information," AT&T says, "go to att.com/primetime" - which redirects to this helpful page:
