Thanks for the good comments everyone. I appreciate it. :)

To convert the files:

1. Find each file on your system (windows key+f) for this purpose we'll just say we're doing Shell32 (but you need to redo every file included in the rar)

2. Open the Shell32 on your system in Reshacker

3. Goto the icon group tab, and find the first icon group. Right click > Replace Resource

4. Open file with new icon and choose the Shell32 included in my pack.

5. On the left hand side, select the icon number that corresponds with the icon number your replacing (1 to 1, 456 to 456, ect.)

6. Move onto the next Icon group and repeat.

7. Save the file to a seperate folder as the same name.

8. Repeat until you've done each file included in my pack.

9. Copy the readmes and install.bat to the new folder.

10. Take a screenie, show it to me and wait for my approval via PM. :D

Note: Shell32.dll and shdocvw.dll need AVIs replaced in addition to icons, but you go about it the same way you do icons.

If you think this is tedious, try finding each icon indivdiually in the GANT pack (and sometimes Umicons pack) and replacing them. :p

And DiGiTaL DrEaMeR is right, you get those using YzToolbar. You can download YzToolbar here and the theme I used here.

I just rebuilt GANT for WindowsXP Pro SP1, shell32.dll. I ran into one problem. In Shell32.dll for WindowsXP, some icon is specific for only 4/8 bits colour, unlike the original Windows 2003, which use all 32bits colour icon. Anyone know how to change it or any suggession?..... btw, it's just a few(around 20 icon) that use 4/8bits colour, the rest work very well.

I have 2 options, first force to use GANT icon at only 4/8bits colour or just leave the original icon that need 4/8bits colours..... any idea?

i'd made a gant shell32 a while ago but didn't want to say much about it since i never had any sweet avi's to go with it.

this shell32 was HUUUUUGE since it includes the 256px icons and has GANT replacements for some icons that xp doesn't even use anymore (or at least, that i never see used), but it's quite nice. good job with the avi's

What do you mean about avis? Sorry I'm missing something here, lol.

I think he meant AVI files.

Anyway, I just try my XP SP1 built.... it look great. I have to choose to leave those 4/8bits icon as original. Forcing GANT icon into 4/8bits colour look not so good.

Nah what I didn't get was are some of the icons animated since they are avi?

Haha, it is pretty big. But that's just how the icons are. I figured with hard drives being 80 gigs these days, 30 more megs wouldn't make much of a diffrence. ;)

And the SP1 release date is out of my hands, guys. Whoever does it properly and asks me for permission first is when it will happen (if anyone ever does it).

    • I did that to a work colleague many years ago when he left it logged in. Unfortunately I was out of the office the next day, and even the IT department was stumped lol. Got a bit of a bollocking when I got back into the office, but, by god, it was worth it.
