Man, that kid that posted yesterday about breaking his leg and having knee surgery and how he had to take a year off school and be stuck on dial-up and stuff...He said hopefully by the time he was back this would be ready...

1 day later it is...thats just...not right...:(

how do i install it? the file size is small... while the icons on deviantart is like 50 mb. someone help me install this.

The file size doesn't matter. Not all the icons in the 50MB icon set is contained in this shell32.dll file.

Anyways, you can either use the program Replacer to replace your default shell23.dll file with this new one. Or you can refer to this tutorial if you wish to do it the old fashion manual way. Remember to backup your default shell32.dll file just in case.

This is a great set, but I have one question: Is there an easy way to restore the default Internet Explorer animation, instead of the rotating GANT icons? I'd appreciate any help, thanks!

~Og

The only way to restore the default animations is to open up the shell32.dll file using Resource Hacker, and replacing the GANT animations (under AVI section) with the default ones.

how do i use replacer? whenever i double click replacer.cmd all i get is date file modified: aborted. sorry for my ignorance.

Personally, I always do it the manual way, so I can't provide much help with Replacer.

What I usually do is this:

(1) Backup default shell32.dll file.

(2) Boot into Safe Mode (press F8 while booting).

(3) Go to Windows\system32 folder and rename shell32.dll file to shell32.bak

(4) Copy the GANT shell32.dll to this folder.

(5) Go to Windows\ServicePackFiles\i386 folder and rename shell32.dll to shell32.bak.

(6) Copy the GANT shell32.dll to this folder.

(7) Reboot.

(8) If icons don't change, rebuild the icon cache using TweakUI.

Thank Jlund, I just update Shell32.dll to the final version. Thanks to Jame to teach me how to force icon in Shell32.dll to the 32bits color. Now every icons in Shell32.dll(For WindowsXP) were replaced by GANT icon set. I also change the animated windows icon, make it look better than the previous one.

Yes, I plan to make a complete set, but will have to wait after my exam next week. :p

Shell32.dll 6.0.2800.1233 [Final version]

how do you do that to force 32 bit icons?!?

btw: very nice icons, I was also waiting for the shell! thank you very much, you did a very good job!

Great job, Kasteo. I'll be looking forward to see you doing the rest of them (as everyone else probably well be) :)

Download GANT Shell32 for XP-SP1 FINAL

P.S. Kasteo: if you plan on updating anymore, besure to include the Read Mes I have in the RARs I make. It's very important to keep mattahan's Read Mes in packs released using his icons. :)

I will work on new Throbber, Turn off, Log off, and more complete set next week after my exam.  :p

Any suggestion on Throber? Or any miss place icons/error? Give me a list and I will working on it next weekend.

"My Computer" icon seems to be missing, as for the throbber, I dunno, I don't have the one clue, for the Firebird theme they have a funny lil head thingy. I really love it so far!

It's so nice! The last Shell32.dll I had was 42mbs! Now that i have this new one installed it seems some things have sped up a tiny bit :D. Damn fine work!

Maybe the Jpeg and PNG icons would be cool to have.

Thanks, I will try to make some nice animate throbber from GANT icon.... That's the hardest part of making the smallest Shell32.dll size. The original one I first made is about 40MB and it took me almost 2 days to optimized each part to make it from 40MB to 12MB. :p

Anyway, I have to go back to my study again..... hate exam... :(

Tee hee!! I just got to my girlfriend's house cuz I checked my dial-up at home and saw that this was released, it took me like 30 mins to walk down her stairs on crutches but I did it all cuz she had high speed so I could download this shell32! Ha ha, owww. . . my knee hurts, but this roxors, my computer is gonna be all GANT pimped out

P.S. I know that someone is working on a Reluna winamp skin, but with all my free time, so am I, and hopefully I'll be able to post it before the end of the week

Hurray for leg breaks

    • XBOX is at the end of its generational life cycle and wasn't selling much anyway. They need to figure out the pricing for XBOX Helios. However, I'm not buying the DRAM shortage with AI preferring HBM. I think it's industry gouging.
