When i replace the original iexplore (89k) with gant iexplore (129,5k), after reboot i see that the size of iexplore is 89k, so... iexplore is protected by something. Any idea?

Did you replace the iexplorer.exe file in the Windows\ServicePackFiles\i386 folder as well? You need to do this as well.

I havent servicepakfiles folder. I replaced the iexplore.exe in the dllcache folder and now in program files\internet explore, the iexplore.exe has a size of 129,5k but i'm looking the old icon in my desktop. I dont know what's happen here. Also i do rebuild icon with the tweakUI and nothing...

You can get the Replacer here.

For the manual way (modify hush66 method)

(1) Boot into Safe Mode (press F8 while booting).

(2) Go to Windows\system32 folder and rename shell32.dll file to shell32.bak

(3) Copy the GANT shell32.dll to this folder.

(4) If you have dllcache folder :

- Go to Windows\system32\dllcache folder and rename shell32.dll to shell32.bak.

- Copy the GANT shell32.dll to this folder.

(5) If you have ServicePackFiles folder :

- Go to Windows\ServicePackFiles folder and rename shell32.dll to shell32.bak.

- Copy the GANT shell32.dll to this folder.

(6) Reboot.

(7) If icons don't change, rebuild the icon cache using TweakUI.

** for the other files do the same

- explorer.exe goto \Windows\

- iexplore.exe goto \Program Files\Internet Explorer\

- SHDOCVW.DLL goto \Windows\System32\

- mydocs.dll goto \Windows\System32\

- zipfldr.dll goto \Windows\System32\

- url.dll goto \Windows\System32\

Guys..I screwed up big time! This is what happened,

I renamed the original shell32.dll to shell32.bak(under Safe Mode)

I copied the GANT shell32.dll to C:\Windows\system32 folder

I couldn't find the folder C:\Windows\system32\dllcache folder

I also couldn't find the folder C:\Windows\ServicePackFiles folder

I am confused as in why i don't have either one of the folder, therefore i

decided to go ahead with the procedures without the latter..

Result: "The Logon User Interface DLL msgina.dll failed to load

Contact your system administrator to replace the DLL, or restore

the original dll"

Spent the entire night repairing Windows XP SP1... :(

Guys...Any advice?

I'm using Windows XP Pro(Build 2600,xpsp2.030422-1633(Service Pack 1)

The folder Windows\system32\dllcache is a hidden folder. You need to go to Tools --> Folder Options --> View and make sure that the option "Show Hidden Files and Folders" is checked, while the "Hide protected operating system files folder" is unchecked. Only then will you see your dllcache folder. Alternatively you can simply type in C:\WINDOWS\system32\dllcache in the Address bar of your Explorer.
