Apple reveals its customers have raised $270 million since 2006 to fight AIDS

Marking World AIDS Day today, Apple has revealed that since 2006, its customers have helped raise $270 million to fund prevention, testing, and counselling services for people affected by HIV/AIDS. Now, the company has announced several other actions its taking to raise more money and help raise awareness of the issue.
To help raise more money for (RED), Apple said that it has been offering a range of devices where a portion of the proceeds are donated to tackle AIDS. These devices include iPhone 13 (PRODUCT)RED, iPhone 13 mini (PRODUCT)RED, and Apple Watch Series 7 (PRODUCT)RED. Until the end of next year, half of the eligible proceeds will be directed to Global Fund’s COVID-19 Response to help fight that disease.
In addition to selling (PRODUCT)RED devices, Apple will donate $1 to the Global Fund between now and December 6 for every purchase made with Apple Pay on apple.com, in the Apple Store app, or at an Apple Store. The firm is also introducing six new Apple Watch faces that can be downloaded here. While they can be used on any Apple Watch, Apple designed them with the Apple Watch Series 7 (PRODUCT)RED in mind.
On the software side of things, the Apple App Store will highlight Positive Singles, a dating app that aims to connect singles living with HIV/AIDS and other STIs. Apple Books will feature collections of books and audiobooks that address the fight against HIV/AIDS, Apple Podcasts will feature shows addressing the issue, and Apple Music will carry a feature in recognition of World AIDS Day. Apple TV app users can also head to the Watch Now tabs to see shows and movies about ‘the human cost of the HIV/AIDS epidemic.’

Apple expands its partnership with (RED), $250 million raised since 2006

(RED) is a nonprofit organization that helps to combat HIV/AIDS in Africa. Its program works in a way such that it announces several "(PRODUCT) RED" special edition hardware and services with support from its global partners. 100% of the proceedings from people who purchase these products go to a global fund fighting HIV/AIDS in Africa. With the pandemic now prevalent all over the world, this fund has been expanded to include COVID-19 as well.
Apple partnered with (RED) back in 2006 and has launched PRODUCT(RED) hardware from time to time. Now, the company has stated that it is expanding its partnership and has released new statistics to highlight the positive impact this collaboration has been having as well.
The (PRODUCT)RED iPhone 7 Apple has stated that since its partnership with (RED) in 2006, it has raised over $250 million in grants serving almost 11 million people. 167 million HIV tests have been conducted using this funding and almost 14 million are being given access to critical antiretroviral (ARV) treatment. The $250 million figure is a notable increase from the $160 million we reported in 2018. Overall, (RED) touts over $650 million raised since launch, which means that a sizable chunk comes from Apple's funding.
With the ongoing pandemic, the global fund is now also being used for protecting people against COVID-19 as well. Apple further went on to say that:
Moving forward, Apple is expanding its partnership to raise more funds. It has launched (PRODUCT)RED devices and accessories that you can find here. 100% of eligible proceedings will go to (RED)'s global fund. This will continue until June 30, 2021. Furthermore, until December 7, the company will be contributing $1 for every purchase made with Apple Pay on its website, an App Store app, or at an Apple Store, towards this fund.
To increase awareness, its physical stores will host red logos and window displays. Several tracks on Apple Music are being released in collaboration with (RED). Finally, the firm will be highlighting (PRODUCT)RED in the App Store, and will feature apps and content related to HIV/AIDS and COVID-19 there as well.
Apple has announced (PRODUCT) RED iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus special editions

Apple has announced the (PRODUCT) RED Special Edition versions of the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. The company will be sharing some of the earnings in order to help fund tests, counselling, and treatment for the millions of people with HIV/AIDS. The new edition will go on sale online tomorrow, and in stores from Friday, with prices starting at $699.
Greg Joswiak, Apple’s vice president of Product Marketing, said:
In addition to the new red iPhone models, the firm has also introduced a new (PRODUCT) RED iPhone X Leather Folio. The new case will be available from tomorrow, with proceeds going to the Global Fund HIV/AIDS grants. The case will sell for a hefty $99.
Deborah Dugan, (RED)’s CEO, praised Apple for its leadership in combating HIV/AIDS over the last twelve years since 2006. She said that the iPhone maker had donated more than $160 million in the first eleven years since 2006.
