Buy Modern Warfare 3! :D

Wow-wee, with the voucher, it's "only" ?35! :woot:

Oh yeah, I also got a 50% off Portal 2 voucher; yet another game I've already got. :p Who wants to trade these vouchers for coal?

Someone wanted me to give them Left4Dead 2 for 3 coal.. No way, I know games can be won but the chances are slim of getting anything of value, most of the time it ends up being a useless coupon so no way am I going to risk more than one refined per coal.

Singularity.

Any recommendations?

I've got it, I wouldn't say it's a brilliant game but it's not awful either. I kinda enjoyed it, no texture issues either.

I just bought Batman Arkham City for ?19.99.

I also bought Warhammer 40K Space Marine when that was on offer as well.

It's Activision, so don't expect a discount for it. They only just sold MW2 for ?9.99 for one day a few days ago, and that's two years old.

Looks like I'm only getting one game today, and that's S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky to complete the collection, as I've already got Shadow of Chernobyl, and Call of Pripyat. :) Probably a good thing too, as I'm low on money at the moment, and payday isn't until Friday for me.

Oh, forgot to say I picked up the Half-Life Complete pack and Bunch of Heroes yesterday. Bit of a shame they didn't give giftable copies for HL2, Deathmatch, and Lost Coast, but even taking those out of the mix, the pack was still cheaper than buying individually, and I'll finally be able to play the first Half-Life game. :)

I love the S.T.A.L.K.E.R series, I got them all a while back. A russian developer is remaking Shadow of Chernobyl using Cryengine.

I got Portal, Left 4 Dead 2 and Oddworld Abe's Exodus for nothing although I already own Left 4 Dead 2 and Oddworld Abe's Exodus so I'm also taking offers in coal, holiday keys and refined metal for these.

Well I have the DotA 2 thing and 2 coal. I would like to get portal 2. For DotA 2 it says hardware survey so I am not sure if that is there way of giving a beta invite or not.

Would you settle for a Portal 2 50% off voucher plus either a 50% off F1 2011 voucher or a 25% off Activision games voucher for the DotA 2 hardware survey?

I swear Valve must have some algorithm for generating gifts that will be useless to the recipients.

Yeah, apart from 2 coal all I got was HL2 Ep2, which I already have.

I have HL2, both eps and 2 coal so far for trade. Take a number and join the queue if interested. They're sure to be in hot demand.

It says Dota 2 Hardware Survey, but it's Dota 2 the game. I got it myself.

I don't understand it, but I'll keep watching to hopefully understand how it works (this coming from a big RTS fan).

Dang, why's everyone complaining about free games? That's way better than coal or coupons!

Trade it, dude. It has value. Go to the Steam forums or TF2TP.com if you want TF2 items.

I have a 50% any valve game coupon so don't need that for portal 2, not into racing games or any Activsion games I don't already have sorry.

heh heh another year another Steam sale, and here we are again ho ho ho!

good to have protocol and giantpotato leading the charge again. so far i've bought HL, Opposing Force (had to play those two once more), and Call of Pripyat. i'm sure we'll find something else. however, i wouldn't mind limiting my purchases this time as i have a huge backlog of games anyway and scant opportunity to play them.

minifig, hope everything is ok with you!

I've been getting the 101 error every time I try to access the store for the past hour now. :( Is it simply high demand, or is it something wrong on my end? I've tried restarting Steam, and I've even deleted the ClientRegistry.blob file, let Steam rebuild it, and that didn't work either.

    • I wonder how many are laid off for cost savings, and this being blamed on AI to make it sound less scary and bad, for a more positive "modern, with the times" spin for investors? Because Oracle is down 14% the past year. We're also looking at a company struggling here.
    • AI is the beginning, wait until real robots replace more jobs, specifically jobs that require physical work.
    • AI is indeed eliminating jobs, and Oracle just proved it by Hamid Ganji There’s no question that AI has become the hottest trend in workplaces, and every company is trying to adopt AI-driven solutions across its operations. While some industry leaders repeatedly say AI won’t lead to massive layoffs, recent data suggest that AI is actually one of the main reasons some companies are reducing their workforce. According to Oracle’s annual regulatory filing, the company has laid off about 21,000 employees, or 13% of its workforce, amid increasing AI adoption. “The adoption and deployment of AI technologies across our operations have resulted, and may continue to result, in reductions to our workforce,” Oracle said in the filing. The software giant now has approximately 141,000 full-time employees, a notable decrease from 162,000 during the same period last year. Restructuring expenses, including severance payments, cost Oracle $1.84 billion in fiscal 2026. Additionally, around 49,000 Oracle employees were based in the U.S., while approximately 92,000 were employed internationally. Like many other companies, Oracle has fully embraced AI and concentrated much of its efforts on the technology. The company is also a key participant in the United States’ $500 billion Stargate Project, which aims to build multiple AI data centers across the country. When it comes to AI adoption and its impact on the workforce, opinions remain divided. NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang, whose company has been one of the biggest beneficiaries of the AI boom, recently said in an interview that attributing job cuts to AI is a “lazy” narrative. “The narrative that connects AI to job loss, for many of the CEOs that are doing it – it is just too lazy. AI has just arrived, how is it possible they're already losing jobs?” Huang said. However, statistics and recent reports tell a different story. According to Layoffs.fyi, 196 tech companies have laid off about 119,800 employees so far this year. Reducing staff and replacing roles with AI agents could become one of the most significant trends in the job market in the years ahead.
