I just keep getting coal now with every objective I do. The last four or five I've done have all ended up with coal. I've got 10 pieces on me now, trying to resist the temptation to craft again.

I'm amazed I haven't got a game yet; not even one I already own. :p I've done 21 objectives so far, and it's been nothing but coal and trolling vouchers (that is, vouchers for games I already own).

I got both L4D2 and Flatout today, after getting absolutely nothing in previous days.

Use this contest as a reminder to separate your Steam accounts. I have a Steam account for games I play online (L4D, MW3, etc) and one for games I play offline (Skyrim, indie games)

Or, alternatively, have all your games on one account since having multiple accounts disqualifies you from the contest.

No payment is required; a Steam account may be established without purchase. One manual entry per Holiday Sale Objective, one Steam account per entrant, and one Epic Holiday Giveaway win per user. Not really the contest that I'm interested in (no chance in hell of winning that)... but rather the free games with the achievements.

I got a free game of AI War, which I already own :(

Lots of Coal, tried doing the craft thing but only got another discount voucher out of it. All the discount vouchers are for games I own or have no interest in buying.

At least I've got some bargains in the sales though, and REALLY enjoying Space Marine

It's part of the same contest. The same rules apply. They could very well take away all your prizes if they found out. Sure the chances of them actually doing that are low, but it's still cheating the system.

at any rate, just got Gothic 4, and BTW E.Y.E is awesome, one of the best and most interesting games i've played recently!

Are you kidding me? I couldn't even be bothered to get past a few missions. Unless they did some major upgrades to the game it's pretty meh.

(Mind you, I'm not dissing you for disagreeing with me, just surprised.)

OK, this isn't technically a Steam sale per se, but it is for a game that you redeem on Steam, so I thought I'd give everyone a heads-up...

On Saturday, Green Man Gaming are gonna do a voucher code for Deus Ex: Human Revolution to take 66% off the current sale price (which is currently ?25.97), so on Saturday, it'll be ?8.83. They'll be doing the deal on the Augmented Edition as well, so you'll be able to get that for ?11.46.

Anyone up for that? :)

You can craft 7 holiday coal into a prize from the great gift pile. I was wondering if the prize is completely random or if it's a random selection from one of today's deals on steam, games with objectives or something else?

Sounds interesting. Applicable for international users? And has Deux Ex: HR been a Steam Deal of the Day so far? It's about the only other big release I am interested in picking up. I already got COD:MW3, Rage, and Batman:AC.

Yep, it's a worldwide deal. :) For Americans, it'll cost $14.47, and for Europeans, it's ?14.47. I'll post the code on this thread when I see it appear. No need to worry about demand, as there's no usage limit on the code; just that the deal will almost certainly end at midnight, going from the previous and current deals.

Don't think it's been on steam deal yet but it was $9.99 on Amazon few days ago!

      There is nothing wrong with this title. You have completely missed the plot when it comes to "clickbait." The issue was never that a title tries to entice you to click, that is how titles have worked for over 100 years. The issue is when the title subverts expectations, getting you to click expecting something that isn't there. The classic clickbait example is "Boyfriend caught cheating, what happens next will shock you," then what happened next is the girlfriend was upset...which is probably the least shocking outcome imaginable. If sounds like what you want is for the titles to be a collection of 10-word summaries that you can skim, get the just of the story, and only click if you want more details. That is not, never has been, and never will be what titles are. You can go all the way back to print newspapers during the great depression and see the same thing. The newspaper was locked in a vending machine, all you can see is the headline, you choose to put in 5¢ to buy the paper and read the rest if you want. Those headlines were written in a way to sell the paper, not just to provide a summery. Here are two actual headlines from that time, "Wall Street Lays an Egg," or "Stocks Hit Bottom?" Maybe you'd say something like "it was wrong then and it's still wrong now." Okay, fine opinion to have, but it isn't like Neowin is doing something unjurnalistic, they are just following the age-old standards for written media.
