RCA/phono/composite to 3.5mm audio?

Hi all,

I know there are plenty of adapters, but I wondered if any of you have hacked an RCA cable to a female 3.5mm audio jack? Any advice would be appreciated.

Specifically I wanna hook up my speakers to my PS3...

The problem is the differences between the innards of these cables. RCA's got many copper strands for each wire. 3.5 mm is the crap - for the most part it has one for each, twisted around each other, very thin, isolated with acryl. This isolation is not trivial to remove - can do with tweezers, carefully heating with a small torch so as not to melt the actual wire.

Unless you've done a fair bit of soldering, it will make electrons angry :)

I've done a fair bit of soldering before, but after Googling to no avail and looking around the house for one of these cables for the last 40 minutes, I think I'll probably just buy one :p
