A California man named Tom Wilkinbooth had this weird tingling sensation in his stomach that he couldn?t explain. He had a rude awakening when he woke up finding his stomach in severe pain, and he began to suffer rashes all over his body.

Even worse, going to the bathroom became harder than ever. After a visit to the hospital, multiple X-rays were performed which revealed that some of the spider eggs had hatched inside of his stomach, and hundreds of spiders were crawling all around. :|

Tom speculated that the spiders may have found their way into his mouth when he was sleeping. Many of the spider eggs had not hatched yet, and doctors warned that surgery needed to be done as soon as possible.

After 4-5 hours of surgery, Tom woke up, and the doctor showed him a plastic bag of all of the spiders that were inside of his stomach.

No way, how would they breath ?

I was wondering things along that line a well... Like if they went down his throat, how did everything survive the stomach acids? How would you not feel stuff crawling under you as well? He must be a very large man to not notice a egg shapped buldge protruding from his gut.

Can a spider lay eggs inside a human body?

Answer:

Spiders, spider's eggs and the like CANNOT survive in the human body. This is one of those urban legends that plays on our fear of spiders. Spiders do not lay their eggs inside of animals (human or other), and the animals (parasites) that CAN survive in the human body, are especially designed to resist the harsh conditions, viz. stomach acid. The larvae of most parasites are encysted to protect against acids and other unfavorable conditions. In fact some wasps lay eggs onto and sometimes into the spider's abdomen. When the larvae hatches, it will eat the spider. Spiders; however, prefer to lay their eggs in the web. Next time you hear a story of someone who had spiders crawling out of the body, take it, with a grain of salt.

Fun story though!

Yea.. I did hear someone who visited a country someplace and left their cotton buds by the bed, used them to clean their ears during their stay and a few weeks later started losing their hearing, docs visit retrieved live cochroaches from their ear canal after one had laid its eggs on the cotton buds

But these horror stories always make their rounds and you can never be 100% about them :)

I have a hard time believing they could survive in the acids in your stomach, without oxygen. All the stories I could find relating to this all point back to the same site linked above, which is unsourced. I call fake.

yeah, look at some of the other things they publish: snakes with human heads
