Raspberry-Pi sells out in minutes

Recommended Posts

Actually, 0 (ZERO) have been sold. It's only an expression of interest/pre-orders... but they are actually just gauging the market. It has been a huge let down. They are still 50 days away or so say the factory making them... So far not one person has been able to pay for one. No money has been exchanged. This topic is very misleading.

Bloody sources!

I apologize profusely if I've inadvertently lead anyone down the proverbial 'garden path'. My bad.

0 have been sold?

I thought they had 10,000 made and they sold out in minutes. Now we're registering interest/pre-ordering (as they've sold out) one and they will be built on demand. This is what it says on their twitter.

Nope 0 Sold. They are very very misleading. Both sits only allowed interest. They did not sell out there servers melted down. expression of interest and pre-orders are back so you can go nuts again. Also there twitter is a mess of miss information... one of the retaillers actually refused to allow pre orders or interest from anyone that did not own a business. whole thing has been a massive screw up.

People saying 'not making money', the profit they make from each sale is small, yes, but think of how many they're going to sell...

So I don't think it's a case of 'not making money', and it's great to see that it'll go to getting them put in schools!

Yes, none have been sold, apparently they were meant to be going on sale yesterday but neither company had actually had any of them made, there WAS money exchanged on furnell and 'arrival dates' went to people ranging from end of march to middle of april.

I don't understand why they have only 10,000 :/

Probably purely from a business perspective. No point in having 100,000 to sell, if only a 1000 get sold etc. They probably didn't anticipate the demand for such a wondrous device.

They already had a list of 100,000 people who said they were interested.... Lets just say only about 30-40% were really serious that's at least 30,000-40,000 units right there.... Plus I know a LOT of people who were keeping an eye on it while not being registered or anything

I definitely did not get to them fast enough.

I checked the day of the "Big announcement" as they called it when they started taking orders, put in my info with Premier Farnell and RS Components to get a model B as soon as they were available, and the next day Premier Farnell got back to me to let me know I could order one.

So my order got through, and supposedly am supposed to get it sometime early April! :D

What's the point of these again? Bragging rights?

I'd like to think they are more than bragging rights and moreso just a sharing of a what people are going to use them for if they got their order in...

But I will admit it feels great saying I got my order through, and will be happy to toy and experiment with mine once it gets here; so I am sure with that, there are plenty of people who have a case of simple bragging and "Look what I got!"

Reading their website might help :p Cheap systems to teach (educate) kids on programming.

BTW, there is an alternative: http://opensource.co...eapest-15-cheap

Finally! Some alternatives in a similar price range. I'm very curious about the allwinner one. Now to see if I can get one.

With features like HTTPS Everywhere and built-in tracker blocking, Brave keeps your online activities safe from prying eyes. Brave is one of the safest browsers on the market today. It blocks third-party data storage. It protects from browser fingerprinting. And it does all this by default. Speed - Brave is built on Chromium, the same technology that powers Google Chrome, and is optimized for speed, providing a fast and responsive browsing experience. Brave Browser also features Brave Rewards, a system that rewards users with Basic Attention Tokens (BAT) for viewing opt-in ads. This innovative system provides an alternative revenue model for content creators and a way to support the Brave community. SlimBrave Neo takes all the good things about Brave and makes them even better by keeping everything clean, light, and privacy-focused. It removes the extra clutter, turns off features you might not need, and cuts down on anything that could slow you down or collect unnecessary data. Because it relies on simple settings and policies instead of modifying the browser itself, you still get full Brave compatibility—just in a smoother, lighter, and more privacy-friendly package.
