Samsung Galaxy Note hits 2 million unit milestone

Recommended Posts

Its the no of units shipped and not the number of units sold.... It still impressive because a lot were skeptical about a 5'' device..

well, not i am expecting some troll comments saying its not impressive /s

There were certainly those that had little faith in how well a device such as the Samsung Galaxy Notewould sell, especially with the many other screen sizes currently available on the market. Nevertheless, we can now say that the Note has done better than expected. It had shipped 1 million units after two months, and has now hit 2 million after four months.

Bear in mind, these are just units shipped and not units sold. It is no where near the 20 million Galaxy S II devices they managed to ship in 9 months, so it?s safe to say the Note appeals to a more particular market rather than the average individual. But more importantly, its innovation has compelled other manufacturers to follow suit, and produce their own 5-inch+ devices. Heck, it?s hard to believe the stylus has made such a quick comeback.

We recently had some hands-on time with the larger 10.1 version of the Galaxy Note. It looked practically identical to the Galaxy Tab 10.1 2, and did not have the ability to dial out like a cellphone. Yet, the improved pressure sensitive digitizer makes using the pen more enjoyable. It?s tough to say how well this other Note is going to do, but we?ll just have to wait and find out.

well Ive never owned a Android phone, although I've messed with one for a couple of months I really like this hybrid. If Nokia doesn't release the 900 in the US soon like in a couple of weeks I think the Note will be my next phone.

    • I know I won't ever be using it to make my game. I'd rather pay real humans.
    • Nah. For every indie dev that needs to create code for "stuff" or textures, it's a godsend enabler to possibly tackle a project that you may not otherwise. The end result and testing will tell the truth if everything works or doesn't, or a game is just mediocre slop, but now these tools are now there and it's the developer's duty to judge the outcome, and even more so for pro studios. And you gotta remember that they will be at an early stage.
    • whoosh my comment went over your head. Enjoy your notchless 3:2 OLED device
    • As a game dev, today was really depressing. They announced that Blueprints will be deprecated in UE6 to be fully replaced by their sh**ty Python-like Verse language... They also announced that 5.8 will be the last version of UE5 until UE6 comes out in MID 2029!!!! They have completely lost the plot.
