Half Life 2 Beta leaked?

Recommended Posts

What one year? That's six months by my math. And that hasnt' been confirmed or denied yet by Valve. And just think, 4 or 5 months ago, no one even thought they'd be playing HL2 this decade let alone in six months. My my, how impatient we've become.

Indeed.. those people bitching about the delay, I think the fact everyone is messing around with stolen source code and beta versions of the game is why there is such a delay. Doesn't it seem so odd that they got about 2 weeks before release before delaying the game?? About the same time they realised they had been hacked.

I dont mind how long it takes em to get this patched up. I'll wait patiently for HL2 to hit the shops.

not an official delay!

According to a news article posted today on a UK press release, there is a Half-Life 2 delay. We already know that Valve does is not mentioning a delay.

We received an email from Mike Thompson who says he works for Vivendi Universal and writes:

delay is not confirmed...

Here we go around and around... again...

Right on man!

   This code has been stolen, you are downloading, running and then publishing information about illegal material.

ADMINS: Will Neowin get pulled down again because of the vast array of Screendumps and details over the leaks name and content?!?

A Concerned Leebobs

No

Nobody has released info on where to get it or what the name(s) of the file(s) is(are).

Look at the screen dump in the first post.

And telling me to shut up (Jesse) *claps* very mature, its you who will be bitching if Neowin goes down. Its good to talk about this, its news. But can we be a little careful that we don't fu*ck up Neowin by getting over-excited in what we all post.

I do agree that we need to watch what we post. Good point.

Well from all the stuff I read, the 'beta' was just complied source with homemade textures and maps.

I dunno.. i'm pretty sceptical at this point. Though the shot of the buggy is a bit intriguing.

I highly doubt that anyone could come up with homemade textures that look that good that fast. Although, how else they got them I have no clue.

I agree, it looks a load of crap in my opinion, i dont see how this leak is good at all

i feel really bad for Valve... all this **** over Half Life 2 is rediculous... Ive never seen this much buzz and anticipation over a video game...even Doom III isnt this bad... and like i saw in the posts before ::must resist beta, must resist beta:: :pacifier:

    • No, "a great deal" for 32GB of DDR5 is $50, not $350. I mean I see what you mean, that it's a decent price compared to what's currently available, but you really should put a disclaimer in this articles explaining that it's still multiple times more expensive than it used to be.
    • Linux 7.1 stable launch looms as Linus Torvalds releases the final release candidate by Paul Hill Linus Torvalds has just released what’s expected to be the final release candidate of Linux 7.1, rc7. The Linux founder said that this RC is not small, but smaller than recent releases, which is a good sign because he expects the stable version to drop next week if things continue on this trajectory. Linux kernels see a merge window for the first two weeks of their life, where developers add new features, then there are about seven or eight weeks of release candidates before the stable version. Typically, there are seven release candidates, but if more time is needed, then an eighth release candidate is released too. This week’s RC’s biggest area of fixes was for GPUs, with networking just behind. Torvalds said that the rest of the release was “pretty random and spread out” with some architecture fixes, driver fixes, filesystem improvements, and build fixes for more unusual configs. In terms of specific pieces of hardware receiving improvements in this update, we had more AMD Zen6 models supported and fixes for AMD SDMA 7.1 and GFX11. Hardware that got improvements includes Lenovo laptops, HONOR laptops, and MSI laptops. Here are the changelogs for those: ASoC: amd: acp: Add DMI quirk for Lenovo Yoga Pro 7 15ASH11 Input: atkbd - add DMI quirk for Lenovo Yoga Air 14 (83QK) Input: atkbd - skip deactivate for HONOR BCC-N's internal keyboard ASoC: amd: yc: Add MSI Raider A18 HX A9WJG to quirk table ASoC: amd: yc: Enable internal mic on MSI Bravo 17 C7VF When the stable Linux 7.1 is released, it will be up to distribution maintainers, such as Canonical and Red Hat, to release the update to their users via the update manager. Some versions of Linux will get it before others, and some will never get it at all. Fedora and Arch-based distros will be among the first to get it, though. If you don’t get it, the security fixes will be backported to your system’s kernel, so you won’t be at risk, but you won’t get newer hardware support, which is fine if your computer works now.
