A ban on windows 8 metro jokes in this section would make the Neowin a better place.

You cannot call for the outright ban of his opinion on metro because you don't agree with it...

Different people have different opinions, some will like metro UI, some won't.

I uh...I don't get it?

It was meant as a little bit of fun for those who still think Metro can simply be disabled in Windows 8, or calling for it to be easily disabled. With it being hard coded into the OS, it cannot.

Doesn't mean it isn't wanted. I sure wish I could disable it. Still hoping a shell with full aero will be written, and any links to the start screen be disabled/hidden and show inside the shell. The desktop would be a fine place for it, just needs to create fake window borders to block out any accidental showing of the charm bar, or clicking of the Start Screen Button.

If someone could make Windows 8 exactly the same as Windows 7 interface wise, I'd be all over it. I like the core upgrades of Windows 8, speed increases, updated file transfer, etc. However the UI/GUI is a complete turn off for me.

Metro on the desktop just needs time to mature a little. Then the benefits, will outweigh the cons.

I see no benefits. It does not benefit me as a user in any way. What may work for you doesn't mean it works for me. My dislike of it isn't as a metro hater, it's as someone who uses a computer in a different way than Metro is designed for and much of how Windows 8 is designed for.

This.

I can't stand Metro Nazis...

Glad it works for some (or "many" as I should put it, some metrowing would obviously criticize me for downplaying), but don't say I shouldn't be given the choice, I don't deny their right to choose Metro either.

Quoted as the Gospel. They will have to wake up and change it. Otherwise they will suffer for this in the long run. Service Pack 1 will come out like 2 weeks from launch that enables the start menu. Just watch and see.

Not that I agree with what he wants to do, but he never said he liked or didn't like Metro, actually...

The Metro interface could simply be disabled, if they added the option, I don't think you understand how programming works, it could do exactly what they make it do, this includes disabling it, or not disabling it

The choice is entirely theirs.

Yeah it has nothing to do with my opinion of Metro (which I do like incidentally). It was just a tongue in cheek comment about the poor quality of Metro jokes (imo) in the jokes & funny stuff section.
