Disable data when a specified limit has been reached?

Recommended Posts

My dad has 500 MB inclusive data per month with his calling plan.

This month he used 650 MB and therefore had an additional charge.

Is it possible for his phone to automatically disable data when a specified limit has been reached?

I believe Apndroid can be used but it is not free.

ICS has that feature built in. Go to Settings > Data usage.

I know ICS has the capability built in, if you're able to update it or use a custom ICS ROM

as far as apps go i don't know of any good ones

He has an Orange Morte Carlo (ZTE Skate) and it's running Android 2.3.5.

3G Watchdog is good but not perfect, there is a free version. Just show you how much you did consume but dont cut the connection. You dont need to be rooted, tho. One of the things you could do is (on android 2.3.x) is disable the data connection by doing Wireless and network/Mobile networks/Use Packet Data ;)

If that bother you a lil, try this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.farproc.data.enabler

free

I use 3G Watchdog, which works on any Android ROM/version. May need root, I am not sure.

3G watchdog is what I used to use however, now that I am running CM9 i just use the built in ICS features.

so far as i know this is not possible without root as a normal app would not be allowed permissions to turn off the features of your phone on its own.

    • I just started using Teams (and “New” Oiutlook) at work (instead of Slack) and both are truly abysmal pieces of software.
